The NBA is the Wild West right now with COVID-19 and the league’s health protocols, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t edges to be had. Following a tough week, we had a 2-0 Monday to improve to 52-49-1 on the season for article plays. Let’s look to keep rolling this week.
Follow along on Twitter — @julianedlow — for what we hope to be another great season, as some plays jump out late due to news, particularly in the player prop market. Here’s what jumps out to me on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Los Angeles Lakers at Charlotte Hornets
LAL ML (-110)
The Lakers are on the second night of a back-to-back, playing in their third game in four nights of an east coast road trip. Not an ideal spot to back, but I think the Hornets are really going to be lacking talent in this game, and I expect it to show. We know LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward are out long-term, and while Charlotte has continued to battle, PJ Washington has been ruled out Tuesday, and Terry Rozier has been downgraded to doubtful. The Lakers could be without a questionable Andre Drummond, but I think they have the scoring to get the road win here, behind guys like Dennis Schroeder, Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Charlotte is essentially down to Devonte’ Graham and Miles Bridges as its two go-to-guys, and I think the diminished Lakers should still have enough to beat that. Even though the Lakers are without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, they’ve been a tough road team all season.
Boston Celtics at Portland Trail Blazers
BOS +2 (-115)
The Celtics are coming off their best win of the season on Sunday in Denver, erasing a double-digit deficit to win by 18 points as road dogs. Boston fueled the comeback behind a 31-3 run in the second half. The big win came after Jayson Tatum dropped a career-high 53 points in an overtime victory over the Timberwolves on Friday night, potentially lighting spark underneath him. I’ve been pretty tough on the C’s this season, but Sunday should provide the best chance this team has had in some time for momentum. Meanwhile, a good Portland team has lost three of its last four, and hasn’t beaten a team over .500 since Mar. 25.
