NBA Best Bets: Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds to Consider on DraftKings Sportsbook for April 15

Julian Edlow gives his best bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Thursday’s NBA betting card.

The NBA is the Wild West right now with COVID-19 and the league’s health protocols, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t edges to be had. Following a tough week, we’re off to a 6-1 start this week to improve to 56-50-1 on the season for article plays. Let’s look to keep rolling this week.

Follow along on Twitter — @julianedlow for what we hope to be another great season, as some plays jump out late due to news, particularly in the player prop market. Here’s what jumps out to me on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Golden State Warriors at Cleveland Cavaliers

CLE 1H (-115)

The Cavs are coming off a win over the shorthanded Hornets on Wednesday, and find themselves in an interesting spot at home on Thursday. Both of these teams won last night, but it’s the Warriors on the road back-to-back. Fading a Dubs squad that’s heating up a bit by going 4-1 SU/ATS in their last five is tough to swallow, but I think backing the Cavs earlier here is the right move. The Warriors are still just 1-5 ATS in their last six on the road, and have really struggled early in games away from home. Golden State is just 9-18-1 1H ATS this season on the road, and 4-8 ATS on the second night of a back-to-back. Meanwhile, the Cavs are a solid 13-13 ATS at home, but have found much more success hanging in games early — 16-8-2 1H ATS at home. I may not wind up firing on this one, but for the earlier games on Thursday, I’d say this is my strongest lean.

Boston Celtics at Los Angeles Lakers

BOS -6 (-110)

The Celtics have found their groove recently, going 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS over their last seven. This west coast trip seems to be the best ball the Celtics have been playing in a while, with huge wins as underdogs in Denver and Portland, pushing Boston to 5-0 ATS in its last five on the road. Jayson Tatum has been locked in ever since posting a career-high 53 points against the Timberwolves, and has some motivation to maintain his strong play in a nationally televised game in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the Lakers are playing in their first game back from a five-game east coast road trip, which can be a tricky spot in the NBA. I’ll lay the points with the Celtics here in what feels like the better spot for a team with a big edge in talent for this game.
