Offense Notes

Premiere Game for Offense in Dunedin

The Blue Jays new home park has been a good one for offense, and their own strong hitting paired with a good opponent in the Braves should make for a high-scoring game on Friday Night. The Braves and the Jays are likely going to be the two highest owned offenses on Friday’s slate, but the rationale makes sense as the matchup on the mound features two pitchers who are decent at striking guys out but also tend to be beatable on fly balls. There’s a lot of home run upside across the board, and many of the hitters are pretty well-priced. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ($5,700), Bo Bichette ($5,700), Ronald Acuna Jr. ($5,600), and Freddie Freeman ($5,500) all take up a lot of salary, but there’s some savings to be had with George Springer ($4,500) in particular. This is a 14-game slate, however, and there are many places to save salary from other games, so paying up for some of these more expensive hitters could still be a good option.

More Low-Owned Good Teams

A lot of the larger slates over the last week or two have had some good teams getting low ownership despite being in good matchups, and that’s typically because there are one or two elite spots that most people are gravitating towards. This is true for Friday as well, with the aforementioned Braves - Blue Jays game, but the Yankees are likely going to be very popular too as large favorites in a home matchup against Tarik Skubal ($6,100) and the Tigers. This should mean that most of the other expensive teams become an afterthought, and that’s particularly appealing for stacks like the Reds, Red Sox, Mets, Angels, and Cubs.
