2021 NFL Draft Day 2 Best Bets: Football Picks, Predictions, Odds to Consider on DraftKings Sportsbook

Julian Edlow gives his best bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Day 2 of the 2021 NFL Draft.

This year’s NFL Draft struck me as a difficult one to bet, but if you do your research, it just goes to show how profitable betting drafts can be. We wound up going 4-0 on Day 1 plays, earning some pretty sweat-free wins. Day 2 becomes much more unclear since we don’t have as much time, and there are more moving pieces. But we still do know some team needs left over from the first round. I’d recommend playing these ones smaller, but DraftKings Sportsbook is offering some terrific Day 2 props on Friday, for rounds two and three of the draft. We’re going to have to lay a bit of juice on these, but here’s what stands out.

Atlanta Falcons Second Drafted Player Position: Defense (-159)

The Falcons entered Thursday night already stacked on offense, but a generational pass-catcher fell into their laps in Kyle Pitts. Now it’s time to upgrade on the other side of the ball, where Atlanta needs the most work by far. Of the ten specific positions offered to bet on, four of the top six are defense, including the favorite. I think RB being +350 in there is what gets us the good price on defense here. With this passing attack Matt Ryan has, using a pick this high on a RB would be moronic. This juice isn’t enough. Falcons go defense at No. 35 with some terrific players on the board.

Philadelphia Eagles Second Drafted Player Position: Defense (-265)

Even more juicy here, but tough to see the Eagles not addressing the side of the ball that needs the most help. I wouldn’t have been surprised to see a cornerback go No. 12 overall, but after the top-two were selected No. 8 and 9, Philly had to move up to get the last elite WR it wanted in DeVonta Smith. It could be anywhere on the defensive side the Eagles go here, but it’s tough to see more offensive investments.

Carolina Panthers Second Drafted Player Position: Offense (-215)

Another heavy juice play, but the Panthers were rumored to be looking at almost any offensive position you could imagine in the first round, yet wound up selecting a corner. On Friday morning, the Panthers picked up Sam Darnold’s fifth-year option, making him the guy. Time to build around him. Carolina is -110 to go offensive line here, which is worth a look, but WR and TE are also +500, and in the top-four positions. I’d sprinkle on OL or WR if you want better odds, but I like grouping them all together in this play. It seems obvious to address offense here.

Detroit Lions Second Drafted Player Position: Wide Receiver (-121)

This one is a bit more specific, looking at a Lions squad that desperately needs someone to target in the passing game. Jared Goff needs help, and the Lions did a good job of addressing that with Penei Sewell dropping to them at No. 7. Keeping Goff protected is one thing, but since Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones both left in free agency, WR is a position of desperation. I think the fact that Detroit is currently slotted at No. 41 with the ninth pick of the day makes it harder to really juice up this play. But there are still 3-4 really good WR on the board, and a couple will be here for this pick. The Lions could also move up if they have a strong preference to draft one of these WR. I’m not overthinking it, and firing on what seems like the most obvious need.
