NBA Best Bets: Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds to Consider on DraftKings Sportsbook for April 30

The NBA is the Wild West right now with COVID-19 and the league’s health protocols, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t edges to be had. Thursday was a really tough card for player props, with a lot of stars getting hurt and failing to return. We fell victim here, as well. But sitting at 67-60-3 on article plays this season, let’s look to finish strong.

Follow along on Twitter — @julianedlow for what we hope to be another great season, as some plays jump out late due to news, particularly in the player prop market. Here’s what jumps out to me on DraftKings Sportsbook.

San Antonio Spurs at Boston Celtics

BOS -4.5 (-112)

Not the best NBA board for a Friday, but injury news could give us stronger plays later in the day. For now, I’ll stick to a couple small sides on home favorites. The Spurs have been excellent on the road this season, sitting at 20-8-1 ATS. But I think that has them a bit overvalued here. Kemba Walker will sit for Boston, but Derrick White being sidelined for the remainder of the season is a massive blow for San Antonio. The Celtics are on a 2-4 skid over their last six, with three of those four losses as favorites. I think that has Boston undervalued at home. Both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are coming off 35-plus point games, and both are active Friday. Marcus Smart also returns from a one-game suspension, giving the backcourt a huge piece it was missing in Wednesday’s win over the Hornets. The C’s have a lot to play for, too, as they’re looking to avoid the play-in round and potentially grab home court in the first-round of the playoffs.

Utah Jazz at Phoenix Suns

PHX -4.5 (-112)

The Jazz had been slumping prior to the Donovan Mitchell injury, but his absence has only enhanced the team’s woes. Utah is 3-6 ATS over it’s last nine, and 3-3 straight up since Mitchell got hurt. Two of those losses were as double-digit favorites against the Timberwolves. This is a massive game for home court in the entire Western Conference playoffs, with the Suns one game behind the Jazz for the top-seed. Phoenix didn’t skip a beat on a big east coast road trip, and got through the first game back, covering against the Clippers as favorites on Wednesday. The Suns are mostly healthy, they’re at home and they should be motivated. They’ll continue taking care of business, as they have in 11 of their last 12 in Phoenix.
