The NBA is the Wild West right now given COVID-19 and the league’s health protocols, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t edges to be had. We sit at 47-40-1 on the season for article plays and look to start the week strong on Monday.
Follow along on Twitter — @julianedlow — for what we hope to be another great season, as some plays jump out late due to news, particularly in the player prop market. Here’s what jumps out to me on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Detroit Pistons at Oklahoma City Thunder: Theo Maledon O22.5 P/R/A (-143)
We cashed Maledon on this prop twice last week. The first one was an ugly 3-of-16 shooting night against the Raptors on Wednesday, then in an easy cash with a 33-point outburst against the Suns. Maledon was off again on Saturday, shooting just 1-for-12 in the second night of a back-to-back. He also played just 22 minutes in a blowout loss to the Blazers. The matchup should be much more helpful this time around, facing the lowly Pistons with a tight point spread on the game. Look for Maledon to have another shooting bounce back and see significant minutes.
Cleveland Cavaliers at San Antonio Spurs: Jakob Poeltl O24.5 P/R/A (-127)
Poeltl’s seen his role really expand over the last five games, playing at least 30 minutes in each contest, and 40-plus minutes in the last two games. In that five-game span, Poeltl’s averaging a combined 28.8 in these three statistical categories, going over 24.5 in each contest. Now he draws a cushy matchup against the Cavs, who lack bodies in the paint to keep Poeltl off the glass. Gorgui Dieng has only played six minutes since being acquired by the Spurs, and is questionable for this one with a shoulder injury. I’m in on this play regardless of his status.
