The NBA is the Wild West right now given COVID-19 and the league’s health protocols, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t edges to be had. We sit at 47-42-1 on the season for article plays and look to bounce-back from an 0-2 Monday with a strong Tuesday.
Follow along on Twitter — @julianedlow — for what we hope to be another great season, as some plays jump out late due to news, particularly in the player prop market. Here’s what jumps out to me on DraftKings Sportsbook.
I haven’t played many totals in the NBA this season, but this spot just points to a grinder in every which way. The Lakers have been an under team all season when they’re on the road, going 17-5-1. They’ve also stayed under in six straight games without LeBron James, scoring 101 or fewer in five of those games. The Lakers have stayed under that 101 team total in seven of the nine games since LeBron suffered his ankle injury. Meanwhile, the Raptors have stayed under in three straight games, and will remain without both Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet. Toronto has scored 104 or less in three of their last four, and that includes a comeback win on Monday over the Wizards. This could be a down spot on the second night of a back-to-back.
I’d like to wait on some injuries before locking this one in, but if either of Malcolm Brogdon or Domantas Sabonis are out, this number is going to move. You’ll want to bet this quickly when the injury report is released. The Bulls are one of the best road teams in the NBA against the number, sitting at 16-6 ATS away from home. Essentially in a pick’em, we have Indiana on the opposite end of the spectrum as a home team, at 6-16 ATS. The Pacers have now failed to cover in nine straight home games, and are just 8-14 straight up in Indy. With Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic good to go for this one, I’ll back Chicago in a spot it has thrived in this season.
