Congrats, we’ve made it to May. As a way to celebrate, we’ve got a splendid 10-game slate coming your way on the hardwood Saturday night. With so much to choose from, let’s survey DraftKings Sportsbook for some player props, totals and sides to bet. You can follow me on Twitter (@KennyDucey) for any late adds.
Here’s what jumps out to me tonight.
Minnesota’s now covered four games in a row and continues to be disrespected by the good people at DraftKings Sportsbook. I realize the Pelicans are still fighting for a spot in the postseason, sitting three games back of the Warriors, while the Timberwolves are out of the running. That said, betting just solely based on narrative this month has probably lost you money, and it’s not like Minnesota will gain much from losing considering the league’s new lottery system. It’s hard to fade this team with the way D’Angelo Russell is playing, leading this team out of the basement in offensive efficiency over the past four games up to 25th. The Pelicans are notorious for their inability to defend, giving the Timberwolves a fair shot here.
The Wizards have been sneaky great on the second night of back-to-backs this year at 9-6 against the spread, and are an impressive 18-12 ATS on the road. There isn’t a team that’s impressed me less and done more over the past week than the Mavericks, who have won four games over that span. The wins look great until you realize they came against pretty weak competition, and then there’s the loss to Sacramento, a game where they came out flat and never turned things around. I really think the Wizards might be the best team they’ve played in the past two weeks, and considering the Mavs are in the midst of a five-game week, they’re going to be beaten up and tired. This is a great spot to hop on the Wizards with an amazing line.
I fully expect this to close at -12.5 or higher, so I’d recommend getting in now. The Heat are just a half-game away from climbing out of the play-in tournament and have won five of seven games, covering in four over that span. They’ve run through some great teams in the process, and now face the tanking Cavaliers who have thrown in the towel, going 1-7 ATS over the past eight games and ranking 24th in defensive efficiency over that span. Defense has long been the only redeeming quality for this team, and now that’s gone. Fade.
