Charles Schwab Challenge Best Bets: PGA TOUR Golf Picks, Predictions, Odds to Consider on DraftKings Sportsbook

Reid Fowler provides his top PGA TOUR golf bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for the Charles Schwab Challenge.

The PGA TOUR heads to Colonial CC for the 76th straight year for this week’s tournament, the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas.

Colonial CC is dripping with history, and the course is another traditional-style layout like Harbour Golf GL, where the RBC Heritage takes place. Fairways are tight, putting a premium on accuracy Off-the-Tee, approach and putting.

Building your betting card could easily start from the mid-range, with the course catering to all types of golfers. Over the previous five years, the average winning odds is +4000, with the shortest coming from Jordan Spieth at +700 in 2016 as the favorite, and the longest coming from both Daniel Berger at +7000 last year and Kevin Na the year before.

For a full course preview and key statistics breakdown, refer to the DraftKings Preview on DraftKings Playbook. Here are the bets we should be considering this week on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Joaquin Niemann to Win +2500

Niemann looks primed for a big week with another tournament gaining through approach last week, making it 11 out of his last 12 measured tournaments. He’s also played well on shorter, classical courses like Waialae CC, where he finished second, and Harbour Town, where he finished top 5 in 2020. His ball-striking has been elite, ranking inside the top 10 over his previous 24 rounds, and his putting on bentgrass greens is much better than poa annua or bermudagrass, ranking 21st over the past 50 rounds.

Matt Wallace to Win +7000 | Top 10 +500

Wallace is having an impressive season so far with an 18th at API, a top 10 at the Wells Fargo and a top 3 at the Valero Texas Open. Much of his success can be attributed to his irons, ranking 15th in approach over the previous two dozen rounds. His entire game looks in form tee-to-green, and he seems to be getting more comfortable in the states, with Wallace committing to playing the PGA TOUR more this season.

Harold Varner III to Win +10000 | Top 10 +800

The course should set up real nice for Varner, who ranks sixth in approach, second in par 4 efficiency on holes between 400 to 450 yards and first in opportunities gained over the previous 24 rounds on courses below 7,200 yards. Yes, I know this is technically above the yardage threshold, but only by a handful of yards, about 10 to be exact. Varner can get a hot putter, and when he does, he finishes runner up at the RBC Heritage, which was his second-highest SG: Putting week over since 2015 and the best finish of his career. It’s also good that his best finish was at Harbour Town earlier this year, a course that resembles Colonial CC in many ways.
