The NBA is the Wild West right now with COVID-19 and the league’s health protocols, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t edges to be had. We sit at 70-61-3 on article plays this season and look to improve upon a 2-0 start to the week.
Follow along on Twitter — @julianedlow — for what we hope to be another great season, as some plays jump out late due to news, particularly in the player prop market. Here’s what jumps out to me on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Brooklyn Nets at Milwaukee Bucks
BKN ML (+108)
We saw this matchup on Sunday afternoon, with both teams playing at full strength, outside of James Harden’s lengthy absence. We got a terrific battle between two NBA Finals hopefuls, with the Bucks edging out the Nets by three points. The rematch comes two days later, going down in Milwaukee once again. I like the Nets to have the extra motivation to bounce back this time around.
Watch the injury reports to make sure that nobody on the Brooklyn side rests, as we’ve seen Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant news hit pretty close to tipoff all season long. But if both are out there, the Nets are in a solid revenge spot. Even without Harden in the lineup, it’s time for this team to start getting into postseason form, and a good way to do that is by getting a victory over some of the top competition in the Eastern Conference. Prior to losing two in a row, Brooklyn was riding an 8-2 ATS streak.

Golden State Warriors at New Orleans Pelicans
GSW ML (+100)
This is almost the opposite strategy as the game above. These teams played just last night in New Orleans, and Golden State dominated, earning a 123-108 victory. I’m putting more stock in the Warriors needing to sweep this mini-series, given their situation in the Western Conference, whereas the Pelicans’ season appears to be over.
The Dubs have won nine of their last 13, climbing up to the No. 8 seed. The Pelicans are the type of opponent you have to keep getting wins over, regardless of a tough road back-to-back. New Orleans is just 1-4 ATS in its last five at home and is the more banged-up team heading into this game. Steven Adams missed Monday’s game due to injury and is questionable again, while Lonzo Ball picked up a thumb sprain on Monday and could miss this rematch. As long as Steph Curry and Draymond Green play, and they have no reason to rest, the Warriors shouldn’t be a dog in this spot. Curry should continue to ride his hot streak against a dreadful Pelicans defense.
