Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for May 9

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Sunday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

This Sunday brings another full day of fantasy football on the DraftKings Dream Stream with six Madden 21 sims lined up throughout the afternoon and evening. The three-game featured classic slate gets underway at 6:00 p.m. ET with a matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Jets before a pair of great matchups loaded with fantasy options finish off the weekend. At 8:00 p.m. ET, the Kansas City Chiefs host the Houston Texans, followed at 10:00 p.m. ET by an NFC South clash between the New Orleans Saints and the Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Check out all the gameplay details on the Madden Streams Information Page and dive into the full depth chart for each team. Check out my favorite fantasy plays for this Sunday night listed below.

Quarterback

Stud

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans, $7,900 — Mahomes has been absolutely dominant in Madden 21, producing 24.8 DKFP per sim, the highest mark of any QB. Deshaun Watson ($7,200) has been good enough to be in the same conversation, but ultimately the matchup against a porous Texans’ secondary is too good to pass up with Mahomes. He has thrown 202 touchdowns while averaging 287.6 yards per game in his 83 sims and even added 17 rushing scores as well. He has multiple touchdowns passes and over 25 DKFP in five straight sims and is definitely worth trying to fit under your salary cap.

Other Option — Deshaun Watson ($7,200)

Value

Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New Orleans Saints, $6,300 — Brady and the Bucs have faced the Saints six times in these Madden 21 sims and Brady has averaged 13.12 DKFP in those meetings. He has posted 17.3 DKFP per game, overall, with 131 touchdowns in 80 sims and 255.5 passing yards per contest. He comes into this contest with at least one passing touchdown in 15 straight games and is a reliable value play that will help you save the salary to stack stars across the rest of your roster.

Other Option — Drew Brees ($6,700)

Running Back

Stud

Le’Veon Bell, New York Jets vs. Las Vegas Raiders, $7,000 — The Raiders’ defense has been a great matchup for opposing RBs, and Bell produced 26.1 and 20.1 DKFP in his two previous matchups against them. He has also reached over 20 DKFP in four of his past six games with five total touchdowns and an average of 4.3 catches for 30.2 receiving yards to go with his 60.5 rushing yards per sim over that stretch. He has been one of the busiest RBs in Madden 21 and should succeed as a workhorse in this favorable matchup.

Other Options — Alvin Kamara ($7,700), Clyde Edwards-Helaire ($6,800)

Value

LeSean McCoy, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New Orleans Saints, $4,600 — McCoy is the Bucs’ third-down back and is usually involved enough as a receiver out of the backfield to be a good value. He is averaging 3.1 catches per sim and has scored a total of 14 touchdowns in 80 sims to help him produce 8.1 DKFP per contest.

Other Option — Jalen Richard ($4,700), Duke Johnson ($4,100)

Wide Receiver

Stud

Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans, $7,800 — No secondary has been able to contain Hill and his 99 speed rating in Madden 21, but the Texans have been one of the worst units in Madden 21, setting the Cheetah up for another monster game. Hill has scored 77 touchdowns in 83 sims with an average of 6.3 catches for 94.1 yards per sim. He has over 100 yards in six of his past seven games and has scored 13 touchdowns and averaged 32.8 DKFP during that stretch. Right now, Hill is putting up the definition of “video game numbers” and needs a spot on your roster as a result.

Other Options — Michael Thomas ($7,200), Chris Godwin ($6,100)

Value

Henry Ruggs III, Las Vegas Raiders at New York Jets, $5,300 — Ruggs had a memorable walk-off touchdown against the Jets in real life this season and posted eight catches for 81 yards and 22.1 DKFP in their most recent sim meeting. His 98 speed rating is behind only Hill’s in all of Madden 21, giving him a high ceiling, which he can reach any time he gets volume.

Scotty Miller, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, $3,900 — Miller is the Bucs’ WR3 since Antonio Brown isn’t on the team and typically stays involved in Tampa’s offense, averaging 3.0 catches for 42.6 yards per sim since taking over the role. Miller is boom-or-bust, and the Saints have been vulnerable to big plays at times in these sims.

Other Options — Emmanuel Sanders ($5,400), Breshad Perriman ($4,400), Chris Hogan ($3,800), Demarcus Robinson ($3,700)

Tight End

Stud

Jared Cook, New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, $5,000 — After managing just one catch in their first Madden 21 meeting, Cook has gone off for 12.8 DFKP per game in his rematches against the Bucs, highlighted by a pair of games with over 100 yards and 20 DKFP. Overall, he has produced 5.1 catches for 53.5 yards per sim and scored 19 touchdowns. He hasn’t put up the gaudy totals of Travis Kelce ($5,800), but in this matchup, I think he offers a solid pivot, especially if you think the Chiefs’ offensive focus will stay on Hill in his favorable matchup.

Other Options — Travis Kelce ($5,800), Darren Waller ($4,600)

Value

Chris Herndon, New York Jets vs. Las Vegas Raiders, $4,000 — Herndon has been a favorite target of Sam Darnold ($5,600) in these sims, averaging 4.7 catches for 46.9 yards per sim. He had six catches for 9.8 DKFP and five catches for 15.6 DKFP in his two earlier sims against Vegas, and he should be a great play at just $4K in this rematch.

DST

Stud

Jets DST vs. Las Vegas Raiders, $2,800 — The Jets are the only DST on this slate averaging at least 5.0 DKFP and have piled up 139 sacks to go with 43 takeaways and eight defensive touchdowns in their 74 sims. Derek Carr ($5,500) has struggled to put up points and avoid turnovers, so the Jets are set for what should be a solid showing.

Value

Chiefs DST vs. Houston Texans, $2,700 — The Chiefs’ DST gets a good matchup as well since Watson has struggled with turnovers, throwing 20 interceptions and losing 27 fumbles in his 73 sims. The Chiefs have 46 takeaways and 132 sacks in their 83 sims and have averaged 3.8 DKFP per contest.
