Milwaukee Bucks vs. Brooklyn Nets

SHOWDOWN STRATEGY

Captain’s Pick

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($18,600 CP): If the Bucks are going to put up a fight in this series, it will be squarely on the shoulders of Giannis to dig them out of their hole. He was aggressive in Game 1, scoring 34 points on 24 shot attempts. However, he only had 18 points on 15 shot attempts in Game 2 despite playing 31 minutes. With that being said, he’s still the clear focal point of the Bucks’ offense, so when you combine his high usage rate with his ability to rack up rebounds and defensive stats, you get a player who was built to be used in the Captain’s spot.

Kevin Durant ($18,000 CP): With James Harden (hamstring) out, it’s up to Durant and Kyrie Irving ($10,800) to lead the Nets’ offense. Durant has certainly been up to the task, scoring 29 and 32 points, respectively, over the first two games. He also has a total of 14 rebounds, nine assists and three blocks in the series. The Nets showed they aren’t afraid to play him a ton of minutes when he logged 40 of them in Game 1, so with his ability to contribute in so many different areas, he carries an extremely high floor.

UTIL Plays

Blake Griffin ($5,600): Griffin was out of his mind in Game 1, registering 18 points and 14 rebounds on his way to 46 DKFP. He logged 35 minutes in that game and has the potential to continue to see more playing time for however long Jeff Green (foot) remains sidelined. While he came back down to Earth with 23 DKFP in Game 2, a lot of that was because he only logged 26 minutes in the Nets’ lopsided win. This game could be closer with the series shifting to Milwaukee, so Griffin has the potential to provide value.

Bruce Brown ($4,600): Brown has been one of the key secondary players for the Nets this season and he’s now likely to see added playing time because of the Harden injury. He’s scored at least 21.5 DKFP in both games since Harden went down and has scored at least that many DKFP in four straight games, overall. His efficiency has been one of the keys to his success, finishing the regular season shooting 55.6 percent from the field.

Mike James ($4,000): When the Nets’ star trio was healthy in the first round, there weren’t many opportunities left for James to find his way onto the floor. In fact, he logged a total of 10 minutes in the series. All that’s changed with Harden out, though. He’s played at least 24 minutes in both of the last two games, scoring 26.3 and 21.3 DKFP, respectively. Given that they won both games, a similar role could be in store for him Thursday.

Fades

Khris Middleton ($9,000): Middleton is known for being an efficient shooter and he was again during the regular season, shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from behind the arc. He’s gone cold in this series, though, shooting 30.2 percent from the field and 23.1 percent on three-pointers. There are several other appealing players with high salaries, so it might be best to avoid Middleton until he shows signs of straightening out his shooting woes.

The Outcome

Don’t expect the Bucks to be blown out again like they were in Game 2. It would be surprising to see them go down 0-3 without putting up much of a fight, especially on their home floor. With the home crowd behind them, look for the Bucks to pull off a close victory.

Final Score: Bucks 116, Nets 113
