We’re in the final stages of the season for both the Men’s and Women’s Championship Tour (CT), and next up is the Jeep Surf Ranch Pro in Lemoore, CA. The location for this event is more literal than you think. The Surf Ranch is precisely that, a site more than 100 miles from the California coast in the state, about 100 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

This wave is different. There is a mechanism that generates groundswell technology, which in turn, makes the wave break. The surfers will have six waves to themselves, three rights, and three lefts, each lasting about 45 seconds - the surfers won’t have to worry about anything other than displaying their best moves. We’ll see aerial maneuvers go into massive cutbacks, which then transition into a barrel ride at the end section - all in concert with each other to get the highest score possible.

The wave breaks the same each time, which means surfers can plan out their moves beforehand, similar to what we see during snowboarding, skiing and skateboarding contests. The best surfers in the world will have a field day here with no variables like wave selection, priority or inclement weather like they would in the ocean. This contest is comparable to the best golfers in the world on the PGA TOUR playing the most straightforward course with perfect fairways, greens and no hazards to contend with. Or if the Brooklyn Nets played against a high school team - we’re going to see a ton of highlights and potentially moves we’ve never seen before. This contest and wave are very different from any other break on Tour, and all this translates to the surfer(s) competing against him or herself on a dream wave in the middle of nowhere.

Here are some of my favorite picks for the Free $1K World Surf League Surf Ranch CT Pool on DraftKings Sportsbook. To play the pool, head over to the DraftKings Sportsbook Pools page. The contest starts at 10:00 a.m. ET on Sunday.

Will a perfect 10 be scored during the men’s final of the Surf Ranch event?

The surfers’ moves and tricks will be pushed to the highest limit, and the progression of moves should be incredible to watch, but I don’t think we see a perfect 10 this year. I’m not ruling out the possibility that it could happen - the probability says we should because we haven’t seen one from the 30-plus surfers combined on both the men’s and women’s CT over the previous two years. Still, there hasn’t been a perfect 10 in the event’s history due to the nature of the contest. The judges should be grading on a stricter scale because the wave is ‘easier’ to surf.

Choice: No

Will the highest wave in the final of the women’s event be won on a right hand or a left hand wave?

I’ll go with the right for the women, especially when Carissa Moore’s stance is regular, which right-handed waves cater more to than Goofy footers. There’s usually an offshore wind (best wind condition for surfing) on the right-handed waves. Like mentioned previously, the end section of the right-hand waves finishes off with the wave barreling. Surfers who can string together a half-dozen moves and then finish it off with a barrel into an air combination should get the best scores possible depending on the progression and difficulty of those moves. If they get deeper in the barrel and higher in the air, the better.

Choice: Right

Will the highest scoring wave of the women’s final include a completed air?

Carissa Moore completed an air at the Rip Curl Newcastle Cup in Australia just a little while ago. We should see progression like this from her and other surfers because imitation is the highest form of flattery, and in this case, success.

Choice: Yes

Which winner of the Surf Ranch Pro event will have the highest individual wave score in the final?

Choice: Men’s winner

Will the number one surfer on the men’s Surf Ranch leaderboard during the semifinals win the event?

Gabriel Medina is close to winning his third straight event at the Surf Ranch. Felipe Toledo is also entering his third finals appearance, and he seems like the only one who could beat Medina at this point. Kanoa Igarashi sessions have been solid, but this is Medina’s contest to lose at this point.

Choice: Yes

Will the number one surfer on the women’s Surf Ranch leaderboard during the semifinals win the event?

Choice: No

What country will the men’s winner be from?

Choice: Brazil

What country will the women’s winner be from?

Choice: Other

What will the highest scoring wave of the men’s final include?

Choice: All

What will the highest scoring wave of the women’s final include?

Choice: Aerial Maneuver
