Fantasy Basketball Picks: Top DraftKings NBA DFS Lineup Strategy for Bucks vs. Nets Showdown on June 19

Stan Son gives his top lineup advice for Saturday’s fantasy basketball Showdown contest on DraftKings between the Bucks and Nets, which starts at 8:30 p.m. ET.

NBA: Milwaukee Bucks at Brooklyn Nets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Game 7! This series between the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets has played out the way it was supposed to be on paper, as the home team has won every game so far. That said, it’s been anything but predictable as injuries, especially to the Nets, have had a huge effect. Will homecourt reign supreme once again? DraftKings Sportsbook has the home team Nets favored by two points with the O/U at 216.

This matchup will also be a Showdown contest on DraftKings, so let’s discuss some players to consider for your entries.

Captain’s Picks

Kevin Durant ($18,000 CP) - Usually, I’d say that James Harden ($17,100 CP; $11,400) and Giannis Antetokounmpo ($18,300 CP; $12,200) have the highest floor/ceiling combos on the slate. Durant always has a high floor because he’s essentially an unstoppable force on offense, but he rarely used to access ceiling games because he didn’t contribute as much as the other two in the other categories. Well, Harden still isn’t 100% and can’t get out and run in transition or explode to the rim in isolation situations, so his ceiling is somewhat capped. Giannis contributes everywhere, but there are glaring weaknesses to his game. The same cannot be said for Durant. He can score from all three levels, both post up and drive around defenders, and he’s been stuffing the stat sheet. During these playoffs, his low has been 40.5 DKFP, but he’s gone for at least 50 in seven of his past 10 games with four of those over 60 and a high of a ridiculous 100.25 DKFP. He’s played over 40 minutes in each of the last four games and went for a full 48 two games ago, so it’s within the range of outcomes of happening again, especially in an elimination game. The usage rate was 44% last game and has been over 30% in every game this series.

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($18,300 CP) - Giannis has a low of 39.75 DKFP in these playoffs but he only played 31 minutes in that one due to a blowout. In every other game, he’s gone for at least 50 DKFP in all but one with four above 60. The poor free-throw shooting and not-fully-polished offensive game hold him back some, but he’s still gone for over 30 points in each of the last four games and will grab a ton of rebounds and get defensive stats. The floor is too high to ignore and Giannis can always explode to be the highest scorer on the slate.

UTIL Plays

Pat Connaughton ($2,000) - The question of the slate is to fit in the top three studs or not. It’s definitely possible and, if you go that route, then Connaughton is a piece that will likely be needed. At this price range, no one will play the minutes that he will, and minutes are half the battle. Yo, Joe! Over the past three games, Connaughton has played 22, 32 and 22 minutes. Now, the usage rate is low, but he will hoist his share of shots from downtown. It’s all about hitting the open shot and tripping into some rebounds and defensive stats. The floor is super low as he went for 2.5 DKFP last game, but he went for over 20 DKFP in the prior two games.

Landry Shamet ($2,600) - Shamet has essentially been the lone wolf off the bench for the Nets. With this being a Game 7, the six-man rotation will likely be in effect once again. Shamet is primarily a shooter who won’t contribute much in the periphery categories, but he can get hot from the field and has played 22 and 28 minutes over the past two games.

Jeff Green ($5,200) - I like Green a lot today. The price is an interesting one because he won’t fit if you’re going stars and scrubs. That said, he was terrible last game, shooting 2-for-9 from the field after blistering the nets (pun intended) in Game 5, going 8-for-11. Maybe recency bias drops his ownership a little. The reasons I like Green are that he’s played 36 and 35 minutes over the past two games and is getting plenty of open looks. He’s gone for 19.5 and 38.25 DKFP over the past two games, so the floor and ceiling have essentially been defined.

Fades

Bruce Brown ($9,600 CP; $6,400) - With the return of Green to the rotation, Brown has essentially been removed from the rotation. He’s played 13 and five minutes over the last two games. The algorithm is lagging and hasn’t caught up to his playing time.

THE OUTCOME

For full transparency, I’ve been absolutely horrible at predicting outcomes, so you may want to go Costanza on me. If that doesn’t work, then Costanza the Costanza.

Give me the home team here. While Harden isn’t 100%, he definitely looked better in his second game back. In addition, role players usually play better at home and the crowd in Brooklyn should provide some extra juice. Ultimately, though, the Nets have the best player in Kevin Durant, who can get a bucket at any time.
