After a thrilling Game 7 in the other Eastern Conference Semifinal on Saturday, we get another Game 7 on Sunday between the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers. The pressure’s on the top seed in the East after taking several punches from the upstart Hawks, who have showcased their offensive talent countless times already in this series.
With plenty of excitement sure to ensue, let’s get into how to construct your Showdown lineups.

Captain
Trae Young ($16,800 CP)
40 minutes, 40 minutes, 40 minutes. That’s how the game log reads for Young over the past three. It’s hard to find a player that is this vital to a team at this stage in the postseason, who plays this much and gets this kind of usage. Young’s usage rate has been 37% over the past two games, and in those contests, he’s scored a combined 73 points. He even took a whopping 30 shots in Game 6!
Joel Embiid ($18,000 CP; $12,000) is going to cost you a pretty penny, and I just prefer taking the savings here on a guy I’m more sure will be lethal from a fantasy perspective. There are too many variables here for me to take someone that expensive, and on the other hand there’s no world where Young doesn’t hoist an insane amount of shots and serve as the go-to guy for Atlanta.
Seth Curry ($10,500 CP)
Can’t decide between Embiid and Young? Why not take both in the UTIL spots and go with Curry, who has cemented himself as the second fiddle to Embiid in this series. I know how crazy that sounds, considering Tobias Harris ($14,700 CP; $9,800) has been that guy all season long, but it’s sadly true for Philly. Curry has given the Sixers far more on offense and has taken a combined 33 field goal attempts (21 threes) over the past two games. The way he’s been shooting the ball (56.3% from three over the past four games), it’s hard to imagine he doesn’t score at least 20 points with that kind of volume.

Fades
Tobias Harris ($9,800)
The thought of fading a guy with this much offensive talent on a Showdown slate is always scary, considering just one misstep can cost you big time, but I just don’t think you’ll regret not taking Harris. He’s averaged 18.7 points in this series with 6.3 rebounds and has shot 51.1%, yet he’s only eclipsed 40 DKFP one time. There’s actually a considerably low floor here given the fact that he’s shot the ball well and still hasn’t made an impact, and considering he’s almost $10K I just don’t understand how you justify that risk.
Value UTIL Options
EDITOR’S NOTE: Hawks SF/PF Bogdan Bogdanovic will play Sunday vs. the 76ers.
Kevin Huerter ($6,600)
The Hawks may be without Bogdan Bogdanovic ($7,400) here, but even if he plays it’s hard to imagine he’ll be 100% after he was unable to finish Game 6 due to knee soreness. Huerter stepped up big-time and re-introduced himself in this series with 43.3 DKFP. I don’t think it’s fair to expect him to do that again, but given the situation on the wings for Atlanta, the minutes and volume should be there for the 22-year-old. We know he’s capable of going off with some massive talent on the offensive end, and at this price the upside is great.
Tyrese Maxey ($4,200)
Is it that ridiculous to take a guy based off of one game, when the playoffs are a time where rotations are ever-changing? We know Maxey has talent, coming into the league as a first-round pick and showcasing his skills many times in his rookie season, and Doc Rivers decided to roll the dice and give him nearly 30 minutes in Game 6, which Maxey capitalized on. He managed to post 30.8 DKFP with 16 points and seven boards, and seemed to make a great case to be the guard Rivers has been looking for to fill in for an injured Danny Green. Considering the other options have been underwhelming, I don’t see why Maxey doesn’t get the same kind of run here.
The Outcome
This should be a low-scoring affair once again with so much on the line, and in a rock fight, I’m going to take the better defense every day of the week. That’s decidedly the Sixers, and it doesn’t hurt that the Hawks are now not only dealing with one, but potentially two big injuries. Trae Young should give this all that he’s got, but in the end, the Sixers’ depth and defense should win out.
Final Score: Philadelphia 101, Atlanta 95
