It’s Sunday, and that means we’ve got a jam-packed slate with plenty of games to choose from in the afternoon and so many valuable lines out there that it’s hard to pick just a few. With that said, here are my best MLB bets to consider on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Oakland Athletics vs. New York Yankees
A’s ML (+125)
The Oakland Athletics have no business being underdogs of this proportion with an advantage in the pitching matchup, and with the stronger lineup to boot. Sometimes, you get a gift like this, and Sunday is one of those times.
Sean Manaea has been stupendous over his past five starts, allowing just three runs in 32 1⁄3 innings. That’s absolutely ridiculous, and it makes the prospect of backing him against a Yankees lineup that has struggled to his lefties over the past two seasons even tastier.
We have the A’s offense, on the other side of things, going up against a lefty. Against southpaws this season, they’re fifth in the league with a 113 wRC+, and their recent form (.759 OPS over the past two weeks) makes them even more attractive here. Jordan Montgomery has been pedestrian lately, as has the Yankees offense, and this is a prime fade spot.

Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros
Astros ML (-148)
Speaking of teams that mash against lefties, there are no better teams than these two. The fortunate thing for the Astros is that they’ve got a righty on the hill, and will be facing left-hander Dallas Keuchel.
Keuchel has been one of the biggest regression candidates in the league with a 3.77 ERA and 5.81 expected ERA according to Statcast, and a big reason would be his hard-hit rate, which has ballooned to 38.4%. That’s bad news when your strikeout rate is as low as his at 14.1%.
The way the Astros have hit, it’s just really difficult to fade them here, and with a matchup this lopsided it gets even tougher. As long as the line is bettable, I always have to back them against a lefty.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Francisco Giants
Phillies ML (+114)
This isn’t exactly a Johnny Wholestaff situation for the Giants, who will be trotting out Sammy Long in his first career start, but there have been better situations to be in. Long has been the long man out of the bullpen prior to this and has pitched to varying results at the major-league level with five earned runs in nine innings. It concerns me that four of those runs came against a team as bad as the Diamondbacks, but it concerns me even more that the Phillies are red hot.
Just about everyone has busted out of their slump now that Rhys Hoskins appears to be with us again, and with that, it’s time to keep riding the Phillies train. They’ve been solid against lefties this year, but best of all, they’ve cut down their strikeouts lately and traded them in for contact (they rank third over the past two weeks). Against a guy in Long who relies heavily on swings and misses, this is a great matchup, and we’ve got great odds to boot.
