DraftKings Championship Series: The Open Championship Millionaire Preview

Matt Meiselman goes over the fantasy millionaire contests for The Open Championship.

Last month at Torrey Pines, Jon Rahm won the U.S. Open and his first career major with a comeback victory. He made two birdies on the final two holes to seal the win. Rahm will be looking to make it two majors in a row when The Open Championship gets underway on Thursday, and he’s the odds-on favorite by a significant margin. The Open Championship is also another opportunity for the DraftKings Championship Series millionaire contests, with three more million dollar prizes and three tickets to the Tournament of Champions up for grabs.

The DraftKings Championship Series is the king of competitions, minting 100 millionaires in the 2021-22 season. For more info on the series and all of the events, visit our DraftKings Championship Series Information page.

Millionaire Contests for The Open Championship

As mentioned above, there are three fantasy millionaire contests scheduled for this weekend: There’s the $2M Fantasy Golf MEGA Millionaire, with a $4,444 entry fee and a maximum field of 505 entrants. There’s the $2.25M Fantasy Golf Millionaire, with a $100 entry fee and a maximum of just over 25,000 entrants. And there’s also a $2.5M Fantasy Golf Millionaire, with a $10 entry fee and a maximum of slightly less than 297K entrants. Each one of these contests pays $1 Million to the winner, as well as a ticket to the DraftKings Championship Series - Fantasy Tournament of Champions, which is tentatively scheduled for January 2022.

Reviewing the Wild Outcomes of the U.S. Open

Last month’s U.S. Open was a spectacular golf tournament, and it had some unprecedented results for the DraftKings Championship Series, as well. The winning lineup in the two biggest contests actually didn’t even have the Rahm, despite the fact he was about 20% owned in those contests. The first place lineup instead had a more balanced approach, and it was able to take the big prize with a mix of golfers who were merely near the top of the leaderboard. The other incredible result from golf’s most recent major was that those two contests were actually won by the same person, with the same lineup, and he only entered two unique lineups in those contests. You can find that story here.

What’s Next on the Champ Series Calendar

The next major DraftKings Championship Series event is now about a month away, with the $4M Fantasy Golf World Championship scheduled to take place from Aug. 19-22 at THE NORTHERN TRUST, located at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, N.J. This event will have yet another $1 million top prize, and it’ll be a live final where competitors will be able to attend!
