In a twist, our late Showdown matchup on Friday won’t feature the Dodgers, nor another NL West team! We’ve got the Rangers doing battle with the Mariners in Seattle. Both teams come in on winning runs, with the Rangers taking four of six and the Mariners five of six, so there should be a lot of offense making for a great Showdown.
Plenty of fun is sure to ensue, so let’s get right into how to construct your DraftKings lineups for Friday night’s Showdown contest.

Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners
Captain’s Picks
Kyle Gibson ($15,900 CP) - The Mariners may be hitting well lately, but over the past two weeks only two teams have struck out more frequently. That makes the conditions for a great start here from Gibson pretty favorable, as does the fact he comes in off of a 10-strikeout performance. He’s been great at limiting hits and runs, but hasn’t put away many guys to elevate to a truly elite level from a fantasy perspective. He should have that ceiling here.
Ty France ($12,300 CP) - France is probably the second-best option from the Mariners lineup, and you can get him at a significant discount. He proved himself to be a great hitter early in the year, and after an injury and a subsequent re-acclimation period, he’s back to raking. The infielder comes in with four hits in his last three games and is seeing the ball well with impressive pop. I think this is a great night to play France.

UTIL Plays
Joey Gallo ($8,600) - It’s hard to get hotter than Gallo right now, who enters with a six-game hitting streak and seven homers in his last five. He gets to face Logan Gilbert ($10,000), who enters with a 10% barrel rate and a hard-hit rate close to 50%. He’s bound to find a couple barrels here with the way he’s swinging it, and against a weak righty, I see plenty of points in his future.
Taylor Trammell ($4,800) - The youngster is still hitting ninth, which kills some of his value, but the algorithm is still doing him dirty here. Like France, Trammell has four hits in three games, and three of those have been home runs. He’s showcasing the offensive talent that got him to the Futures Game years ago, and against a mediocre righty, I’m firing him up in the hopes he stays hot.
Fades
Isiah Kiner-Falefa ($10,200) - This is an exorbitant price to pay for a guy who’s picked up eight hits and a walk since June 20, and a player whose lack of real power makes him a middling fantasy option anyway. He does draw the worse of the two pitchers here, but you’re probably looking at three to five DKFP considering you’re not even getting additional help in the walk department.
The Outcome
Both offenses are hitting, but I think Gibson is really getting in a groove here and should dictate how this game goes. The Mariners probably pick up a couple of long balls here, but the Rangers should have the sustained offensive success to get past the Mariners in Seattle.
Final Score: Rangers 5, Mariners 3
