The FedEx Cup playoffs are still a few weeks away, but the field for this week’s WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational is still a relatively full one, with most of the world’s top ranked golfers in action for a tournament that gets underway on Thursday. It’s also a big week in the DraftKings Championship Series, as the Fantasy Golf World Championship is starting with this event. 250 DFS players have qualified for Round 1 of the tournament, and all of them will earn prizes with the top 100 advancing to next week’s Round 2. From there, the field will be cut again to just 40 participants, who will compete in the $4M Fantasy Golf World Championship. This event will take place from Aug. 19-22 at THE NORTHERN TRUST, located at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey, and it will be a live final where with $1 million going to the winner.
You can follow along here once this week’s contest gets underway.
The DraftKings Championship Series is the king of competitions, minting 100 millionaires in the 2021-22 season. For more info on the series and all of the events, visit our DraftKings Championship Series Information page.
Previewing the Top Golfers on the Slate
As mentioned above, there are several high-end golfers to choose from this week and that includes the recent gold medal winner from this year’s Tokyo Olympics, Xander Schauffele. Schauffele isn’t the most expensive golfer this week, though, that honor belongs to Collin Morikawa, who is priced at $11K, just above Schauffele at $10.8K. Morikawa has a recent big win to his name, as well, winning The Open Championship just last month at Royal St. George’s Golf Club. Morikawa’s recent form certainly justifies the high price tag, as he also finished tied for fourth at the U.S. Open in June. Following these two golfers, Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson round out the top five highest salaries.
What’s Next on the Champ Series Calendar
The Fantasy Golf World Championship will span the next three weekends, concluding with THE NORTHERN TRUST on Aug. 22. After that, the next major DraftKings Championship Series event is the Fantasy Baseball World Championship, which will be held on Sept. 10 with a location that is still yet to be announced. There are still seats up for grabs, so don’t miss your chance if you’re still interested in qualifying!
