UPDATE: Multiple media outlets have called Texas for Donald Trump. He will claim the 38 electoral votes.
It’s Election Day 2020, and somehow Texas is a swing state. Which would have been unbelievable just four years ago.
Make no mistake: If Joe Biden wins Texas, he will be the next President of the United States. He will also likely have a good-sized majority in the Senate, as it would take a wave election for him to win the 254 counties of the Lone Star State. Though he enters Election Day as an underdog, he’s still a bigger favorite to win Texas than Donald Trump was to win the presidency just four eyars ago.
It’s a state where Trump beat Hillary Clinton by nine points and over 800,000 votes in 2016. But demographic changes, a massive voter registration drive by Democrats in a state that usually has poor election turnout, and more people living in urban and suburban areas than ever have made it close.
