UPDATE: Multiple media outlets have called Ohio for Donald Trump. He will claim the 18 electoral votes.

The Buckeye State might be the most accurate reflection of election trends, and of the swing states has the longest history of selecting who the next President will be. They’ve voted for the winning candidate in every election since 1964, and strongly went for Donald Trump in 2016. He defeated Hillary Clinton 51.7%-43.6%, but things appear to be closer in 2020.

Because of a continued loss of jobs, but demographics that continue to favor the Republican party, it’s an interesting snapshot of where the midwest is as a voting block. They elected John Kasich as governor twice, but also Sherrod Brown three times to the United State Senate. Brown is an unapologetic progressive Democrat, showing how Ohio can be shifted each election.
