The MLB playoff field is set, and we’ve got a schedule to get October baseball started! We’ve got the full schedule, updated through the month, including a complete list of series and game odds.

The 2019 Major League Baseball playoff schedule is officially set! We knew the field early in the weekend, but it took until Sunday for the final wild card matchup to be settled. The St. Louis Cardinals crushed the Chicago Cubs on the final day of the season to clinch the NL Central by one game over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Earlier in the weekend, the Oakland Athletics and Washington Nationals each clinched home field advantage in the one-game playoff. The Nationals will host the Brewers on Tuesday, October 1st, while the A’s will host the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, October 2nd.

The winner of the NL wild card game will face the Los Angeles Dodgers, while the winner of the AL wild card game will get to face the heavily favored Houston Astros. The Atlanta Braves will open against the Cardinals, while the New York Yankees will face the Minnesota Twins.

The Astros are favorites to win the World Series, and overwhelming favorites to at least advance out of the American League side of the bracket. The Astros are -112 to win the American League, followed by the Yankees at +220.

The Dodgers are right behind the Astros in World Series odds, +275 to +200, but have better odds to get out of the NL side of the bracket. The Dodgers are -118 favorites, well ahead of the +300 Braves. Here’s the full list of World Series and LCS odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook, followed by the full schedule

The Astros walked off the Yankees in the bottom of the ninth in the American League Championship Series to advance to their second World Series in three years.

The Houston Astros are headed back to the World Series for the second time in three seasons. Second baseman Jose Altuve hit a walk-off home run off New York Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning of Game 6 of the American League Championship Series to clinch the pennant. They’ll face the Washington Nationals, with Game 1 set for Tuesday.

The Astros and Yankees were playing after a late night of travel following Game 5. A rain postponement pushed Games 4 and 5 back a day and removed the normal day of travel before Game 6. Both teams decided to turn this into a bullpen game and save their aces for a potential Game 7. Brad Peacock was the opener for the Astros and gave up one run over 1 2⁄3 innings. Chad Green opened for the Yankees and struggled, giving up three runs in an inning of work.

Houston looked like it would lock this thing down fairly quickly. They added a fourth run in the sixth and took a 4-2 lead into the ninth inning. However, the Yankees did not go quietly in the ninth. Gio Urshela singled off Roberto Osuna to lead off the ninth. After Brett Gardner struck out, D.J. LeMahieu worked a full count, and on the tenth pitch of the at bat, hit a two-run homer to right field to tie the game up.

Chapman came on in the ninth and quickly set down Mark Maldonado and Josh Reddick. He walked George Springer, and four pitches later Jose Altuve ended it with his homer to left.

Game 1 of the World Series is set for 8:08 p.m. next Tuesday in Houston. The game will air on FOX and while starting pitchers have not formally been announced, the game is all but certain to feature Max Scherzer facing Gerrit Cole.

The Yankees stayed alive in the 2019 American League Championship Series thanks to an early offensive outburst against Justin Verlander. We break down the big win for the Bronx Bombers.

The New York Yankees are fighting to stay alive in their best-of-seven American League Championship Series, and they got a big win on Friday night against one of the best in the business. Houston Astros starter Justin Verlander went seven innings, but a four-run outburst in the first inning was enough to get a win and force Game 6 back in Houston.

The Astros jumped on top in the top of the first when George Springer scored on a wild pitch. However, the Yankees responded in the bottom of the inning. D.J. LaMahieu hit a lead-off home run and then Aaron Hicks hit a three-run homer to give New York a 4-1 lead.

That was all James Paxton needed. He settled down, going six innings, and after that first inning gave up three hits and three walks while striking out nine. The Yankees bullpen locked down the final three innings to get the win.

The series heads back to Houston on Saturday, with starting pitchers still undecided. The rainout earlier this week removed the travel day, which could mean plenty of bullpen work.

The Astros jumped on the Yankees pitching and cruised to an 8-3 victory in Game 4.

C.C. Sabathia might have made his final appearance in an emotional moment for the New York Yankees. Unfortunately for him, it was not enough as the Houston Astros rolled to an 8-3 victory that brings them one game from a second World Series appearance in three years.

The Yankees jumped on top 1-0 in the first when Brett Gardner walked with the bases loaded. Gary Sanchez struck out to end the threat, but the Yankees had some confidence. Masahiro Tanaka gave up a walk in the first, but otherwise looked solid in the first two innings. Things began to unravel in the third.

Tanaka opened the third giving up a walk, a single, and a George Springer home run, and all of a sudden the Yankees were trailing 3-1. Tanaka settled down in the fourth and fifth innings, but left after Alex Bregman reached first on an error. Chad Green came on in relief and after getting Yuli Gurriel to pop out, Yordan Alvarez doubled and Carlos Correa homered to give Houston a 6-1 lead.

Gary Sanchez hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth, but that was all the Yankees could muster in the loss. The last emotional moment for the Yankees came when Sabathia made a relief appearance in the eighth inning. Have gave up a hit and injured his shoulder before departing in what could be his last appearance in pinstripes before retirement.

Game 5 is set for Friday evening on FS1 with first pitch set for 7:08 p.m. Justin Verlander taking the mound for the Astros looking to close out the series. James Paxton pitches for the Yankees hoping to send the series back to Houston.

The ALCS has officially been postponed due to rain. We break down what it means for the Yankees and Astros pitching staffs.

Major League Baseball has postponed Game 4 of the American League Championship Series due to rain, and that shakes things up for the New York Yankees and Houston Astros. Game 4 has been moved to Thursday and Game 5 has been moved to Friday. There had previously been a travel day on Friday, but that will no longer happen and if necessary, Games 6 and 7 would happen Saturday and Sunday.

The Astros are arguably the bigger beneficiary of the weather postponement. The team announced that Zack Greinke and Justin Verlander will start Games 4 and 5. Previously, they had been scheduled to pitch Games 5 and 6. The rain delay means the two studs can go earlier on normal rest. Considering the Astros lead the series 2-1, this puts them in a strong position to finish this series in five, rather than worry about going back to Houston.

The Yankees have not announced their pitching changes, but Aaron Boone said on Tuesday this would likely mean Masahiro Tanaka would pitch Game 4. The Game 1 starter had been scheduled for Game 5, but like Greinke, this allows him to start Game 4 on normal rest. UPDATE: Boone announced Wednesday afternoon that Tanaka will start Game 4 and James Paxton is likely to start Game 5, according to New York Post reporter Joel Sherman. Boone said “then go from there” for potentially Games 6 and 7.

The Yankees and Astros got in Game 3, but Game 4 has officially been pushed back.

Yankees-Astros ALCS Game 4 weather update

Major League Baseball has officially postponed Game 4 of the American League Championship Series due to rain. The Wednesday game has been moved to Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 8:08 p.m. Game 5 has been bumped to Friday with a 7:08 p.m. start time. Additionally, this means the teams will no longer get a rest day.

The New York Yankees and Houston Astros are headed back to the Bronx for Game 3 of the American League Championship Series, with the series knotted at one game apiece. Game 3 should go off without a hitch, but it looks like rain could create some issues for Game 4.

It should be a beautiful Tuesday for Game 3, with clear skies and mid-60s temperatures for the 4:08 p.m. first pitch. However, things could get dicey a day later when the teams square off for Game 4 on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 8:08 p.m., and the weather forecast calls for rain in the area starting around 3:00 p.m. with it getting heavier into the evening and going until 2:00 a.m.

NY Metro Weather is also reporting the coastal storm will bring “strong winds gusting up to 50mph ... along with some isolated showers on Thursday.” They expect the showers to slow in time for Game 5, but winds could still be gusting in the 30-40 mph range and blowing out to right field.

The Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals are scheduled to get going at 4:08 p.m. ET on Wednesday. I’d say why not switch the games, but with the rain starting as early as 2:00 p.m., it likely would not help matters. And so, we might be left with Game 4 of the ALCS getting moved to Wednesday and Game 5 getting moved to Thursday.

The Astros took a 2-1 series lead with a win over the Yankees on Tuesday. We break it down.

The Houston Astros lost home field advantage in Houston, and have regained it in New York City. Gerrit Cole put together seven shutout innings, walking five and giving up four hits while striking out seven and the Astros got enough offense to beat the New York Yankees 4-1. The Astros take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven American League Championship Series.

The Astros jumped on Luis Severino quickly, with Jose Altuve and Josh Reddick homering in the first two innings. Three times in the first five innings the Yankees put two runners on with two outs, and all three times they came up empty. The Astros added two more runs in the seventh, and that was about it. Gleyber Torres homered in the eighth to continue his torrid October, but Roberto Osuna shut down the Yankees in order in the ninth.

The Yankees and Astros are scheduled to meet in Game 4 at 8:08 p.m. on Wednesday. Weather could be a concern, with rain in the forecast for the evening. There is a good chance the game ends up delayed or even postponed to Thursday.

The Astros evened up their best-of-seven ALCS with the Yankees. We break it down.

The Houston Astros evened up the American League Championship Series late Sunday night with a Carlos Correa walk off home run. We had a pitchers’ duel of bullpens that carried this game into extra innings before Houston 3-2 in the 11th inning.
