The Seahawks should have a full carousel of wide receivers in Week 10 against the 49ers on Monday Night Football. We break down the fantasy football implications for Josh Gordon, Tyler Lockett, and DK Metcalf.

UPDATE: Josh Gordon is ACTIVE

The Seattle Seahawks face the San Francisco 49ers in Week 10 on Monday Night Football, and there is a good chance wide receiver Josh Gordon will make his debut. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said as much when team wrapped up their practice week on Saturday. He would not commit to it, but went with a coy “good chance.”

The Seahawks claimed Gordon off the waiver wire a week ago Friday, after the New England Patriots waived him off injured reserve. Gordon was dealing with a knee injury that was expected to be cleared up in short order. Gordon passed his Seahawks physical that weekend but did not play that Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He joined the team on the practice field for Week 10, but showed up on the practice participation report with an ankle injury. He was listed as limited on Thursday and Friday, and then a full participant on Friday. He was not included on the final injury report, suggesting he’s healthy enough to go.

After taking a beating in last week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, the bona fide No. 1 tight end is likely going to miss this week’s Monday night game against the Seattle Seahawks.

The team released their final injury report on Saturday, and Kittle is listed as doubtful for the game. Doubtful means a player has a 25 percent or less chance of playing int he game.

Kittle has been one of the more productive pass catchers in the NFL this season. His 541 yards rank fourth among tight ends this season. He has two touchdowns on the year, including one in last week’s game.

This being a Monday night game, there is at least an extra day for him to recuperate. None of these are great starting options for the time being, although if you’re stuck with them for tonight, Dwelley is the guy to play.

Kittle’s status for Week 11 is still to be determined. Given that he did not practice all week, that Wednesday practice report will be a big one for seeing what his chances are for next weekend.

Monday Night Football pits two of the top teams in the NFL against each other. We try to pick out the best plays for the DFS single game showdown.

UPDATE: The 49ers have activated tight end Garrett Celek off injured reserve for Week 10 vs. the Seattle Seahawks. This would suggest that George Kittle will be inactive for the game due to his knee injury. Ross Dwelley is likely to get the start in place of Kittle.

Tonight brings an end to Week 10 of the NFL season, as the 49ers host the Seahawks. This game has plenty of real-life repercussions for the NFL and especially the NFC West, but there is also a load of fantasy players to choose from for a single-game slate on FanDuel.

Monday Night Football currently has an over/under set at 47.5, and the undefeated 49ers favored by -6. If the odds prove close to the outcome, we should see Russell Wilson given the keys to the Tesla and the 49ers running the ball often.

Injuries

The most significant injury tonight is to George Kittle, who is doubtful with a knee injury. Ross Dwelley should see the most significant increase in work, but Levine Toilolo will also see some action.

Kicker Robbie Gould is doubtful and will be replaced by Chase McLaughlin.

San Francisco also gets offensive linemen Joe Staley and possibly Mike McGlinchey back to shore up the line. Fullback Kyle Juszczyk should also return, giving the running game an extra boost.

Seahawks’ new wide receiver Josh Gordon is a game-time decision, but Pete Carroll said that there is a good chance he will play.

Opportunity

49ers

Over the last two weeks, Matt Breida has out-touched Tevin Coleman 29 to 27, but Coleman has six targets to Breida’s three in that span.

Kittle’s absence opens up seven targets per game. Emmanuel Sanders and Deebo Samuel have the most targets after Kittle and look to see a bump, but Marquise Goodwin was a healthy scratch last week due to missing practice for a personal matter. He could return and pass Samuel again in work, but that’s a tough call to make.

Seahawks

Chris Carson remains a steady workhorse with 22 touches per game.

Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf have been the only receivers to see enough work for fantasy production as receivers, and now Josh Gordon joins the group. Gordon is likely to be eased in for his first game if he plays, but he could cut into Metcalf’s workload if they try to get him involved this week.

Ed Dickson, Luke Willson, and Jacob Hollister will all get run this week. Hollister scored two touchdowns on six targets last week, so should remain the No. 1 tight end target.

Core Plays and Captains Chair

In team defense DVOA, the 49ers rank first against the pass and 20th against the run while Seattle ranks 21st against the pass and 22nd against the run.

I think we can safely say the Seahawks defense is worse than the 49ers overall, but we did see Kenyan Drake put it to the 49ers run defense last week, and Chris Carson is even more equipped than Drake to take advantage. Seattle will get Carson the ball even when trailing, but of course, we’d rather him have a lead to work with.

Russell Wilson gets his toughest matchup of the season, as the 49ers have allowed the fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks. Still, they’ve also played a relatively weak QB schedule, with Kyler Murray, the best quarterback they’ve faced. Murray also had the best game against them with 241 yards passing, two touchdowns, and 34 yards rushing with no turnovers. We know what Wilson can do, and I don’t think the 49ers defense will contain him all game. And if you’re putting Wilson in the captain’s chair, you will have a hard time not putting Tyler Lockett in your lineup.

Looking for a captain from the 49ers is tough due to their propensity to spread the ball around, but with George Kittle out, Emmanuel Sanders has a chance to see enough work funneled his way to feel good about his fantasy floor.

Jimmy Garoppolo’s Week 10 was eye-opening, as he didn’t just put it on a weak Cardinals defense, he made throws that would have beaten any defense. The main worry for Garoppolo this week is the absence of Kittle and a lowered workload if the run game is clicking, especially with Staley and Juszczyk back. But if Wilson can get a lead, Garoppolo has proven he has the ability to put up good fantasy points.

One of Tevin Coleman or Matt Breida has a good shot at taking the captain’s chair, but their production fluctuates between the two. I do like the 49ers run game this week though, so I can see diversifying your lineups by using both in multiple lineups.

Captains: Russell Wilson ($16,000), Emmanuel Sanders ($11,500)

Core Players: Chris Carson ($12,000), Tyler Lockett ($13,500), Matt Breida (9,000). Tevin Coleman ($11,000), Jimmy Garoppolo ($15,000)

Value Plays

Matt Breida is a core play, but also a value play at just $9,000 after out-touching Coleman the last two weeks. His price makes him a tough player to fade.

Deebo Samuel has home run ability and a friendly price of $8,000. If Marquise Goodwin doesn’t play, then Samuel is a strong play after seeing ten targets the last two games with Goodwin out.

Josh Gordon has upside based on the team possibly wanting to get him involved quickly, and his price is dirt cheap at $7,000. He’s not safe, and he may not even suit up, but if he does, the upside is there.

Marquise Goodwin was starting before he missed the last two games with a personal issue, so if he returns this week, he should have great value at $6,000 with Kittle out.

Ross Dwelley had four targets with Kittle nursing his knee injury last week, and he caught all four for 29 yards. At $5,000, he could help you put together a scrubs and studs lineup.

Jason Meyers isn’t super cheap at $9,500, but he has put up good numbers with an average of 10 FanDuel points in his last three. It would be nice if Chase McLaughlin, Robbie Gould’s replacement, were in this contest, but he was signed too late.

Value Plays: Matt Breida ($9,000), Marquise Goodwin ($6,000) or Deebo Samuel ($8,000). Ross Dwelley ($5,000)

Need some last minute start/sit advice? Fantasy points projections can help, and we’ve got them for Week 10 Monday Night Football.

The undefeated San Francisco 49ers host the 7-2 Seattle Seahawks for a critical NFC West battle. San Francisco has dominated defensively for much of the season, while Russell Wilson often has willed wins into existence for his team.

Last week we saw 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo break out against the Cardinals on Thursday Night Football, as he completed four touchdowns and threw for over 300 yards. Wilson also had his best statistical game of the year in a win over the Buccaneers, as he tossed five touchdowns and threw for 378 yards.

The 49ers come into this game riding hot, of course, but do have a significant injury concern with George Kittle’s availability currently up in the air. Their No. 1 target is an integral part of their offense, and his loss would hurt.

Linebacker Kwon Alexander suffered a torn pectoral last Thursday and was placed on IR, which is a blow to their defense, especially in underneath coverage. Robbie Gould is also hurting with a quad injury and has a “chance” to play according to coach Kyle Shanahan. If he can’t, we will see Chase McLaughlin take his spot. There is also good news on the injury front for San Francisco. They will get left tackle Joe Staley back after six weeks out due to a fractured fibula, which is a massive boost to both their run and pass game.

Josh Gordon joins his new team and should be able to suit up. He does have an ankle injury that needs to be monitored. But for the most part, the Seahawks are healthy as they travel down the coast to face their toughest matchup yet.

Matchups are crucial for fantasy, but it helps to see what the analytics are saying about potential performances. Looking at ESPN fantasy projections, Wilson has the highest fantasy projection despite the tough matchup. His ability has popped his whole career, but so far this season, he’s leading the MVP race. Coming off his break out game, Garoppolo had the 16th quarterback in fantasy points at 15.9.

We also get to see if Emmanuel Sanders can follow up his strong game and beat his 12.8 point projection. And of course, Josh Gordon will have all eyes on him as he starts his new job. His projection is low at 6.9 points, as his usage is still a mystery.

Overall, this game should be entertaining, but the flawless 49ers are favored by -6.5 at home. With Wilson, Seattle has a cheat code, though, and they will likely press it all game long.
