Chiefs RB Damien Williams traveled with the team to Mexico City after being questionable with a family issue. We break down the fantasy football implications for Week 11 Monday Night Football.

UPDATE: Damien Williams is ACTIVE.
The Kansas City Chiefs had a sizable question mark develop over the weekend when running back Damien Williams had to miss Friday’s practice due to a family issue. He was listed as questionable and there was some concern as to whether or not he would travel with the team to Mexico City for Week 11 Monday Night Football vs. the Los Angeles Chargers.

As of Monday morning, all appears well however. Andy Reid said on Saturday that Williams “should” travel with the team, and on Sunday we learned that he did indeed travel with the team, per Ian Rapoport. Anything could happen in the remaining hours before the game, as we learned with Robert Woods early Sunday evening, but for now, Williams will play.

Fantasy football analysis: Chiefs RBs Damien Williams, LeSean McCoy

If you were counting on Williams for your fantasy roster, it should be safe to take a breath after the weekend’s question. He is coming off his busiest game of the year last week, in which he had a season-high 24 total touches. LeSean McCoy was inactive as a healthy scratch and after Shady’s brief run as the team’s lead back, this would seem to confirm Williams is the guy moving forward.

This matchup is a great one for Williams. The Chargers have given up the eight most fantasy points to running backs, and rank 26th in run defense efficiency. Williams should find some lanes and put together a solid outing in Week 11. Darrel Williams will get some work as well, but Damien is a great fantasy start.

Damien Williams retook the lead role in the Chiefs offense. Will he keep his workload going into to MNF?

UPDATE: Damien Williams is ACTIVE.
Second update

Damien Williams was dealing with a family matter and has resolved it sufficiently to travel with the Chiefs to Mexico City, per Ian Rapoport. This would suggest he will start on Monday Night Football against the Chargers. LeSean McCoy was inactive last week, and there is no word on if he will be inactive this week.

Damien Williams 11/17 status update

Williams showed up on the injury report as questionable for personal reasons. He is expected to travel with the team to Mexico City, which would suggest he will play if that happens. The team is traveling on Sunday, so we will hear something later in the day once they have departed Kansas City for Mexico City.

UPDATE: Chiefs beat writer Adam Teicher tweeted that Williams “will play” on Monday.

Damien Williams has had a roller-coaster season, as LeSean McCoy has outplayed him as a runner but ended up losing his role due to fumbling issues. Williams’ lead over McCoy culminated last week when McCoy was a healthy scratch against Tennessee. He saw a big workload with 24 touches for 109 yards against the Titans. His snap percentage, touches, and routes run were all season highs.

It looks like we can trust Williams again as the lead back this week against the Chargers, but there is, of course, a chance that McCoy is active. If he is, Williams should remain the lead back but could have a few touches siphoned.

Fantasy football analysis: Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams

Kansas City travels to Mexico City on Monday Night Football to take on the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers have given up the eighth-most fantasy points to running backs this season, including a healthy 5.5 receptions for 46 yards per game and the third-most receiving touchdowns at four.

Williams’ usage as both a runner and receiver is what gives him the most significant boost, and the Chargers should help him out in both regards. This game has a 52-point over/under with Kansas City favored by -4. Patrick Mahomes is going to throw the ball plenty, but some will go to Williams, and with a lead, they will end up running the ball more than if they trail the whole game. His upside is excellent this week now that we can call him the every-down back in one of the top offenses in the league.

Chiefs RB will suit up for matchup vs. the Chargers in Mexico City. We break down the fantasy football implications.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams had been away to deal with a personal family matter, but returned to the team and will play in Monday Night Football vs. the Los Angeles Chargers in Mexico City. He traveled with the team on their flight south of the border and will look to build on a strong performance in Week 10. He had a season-high 24 touches in the loss to the Tennessee Titans last week, racking up 77 yards on 19 carries with five catches for 32 yards, good for 14.9 fantasy points. He’ll look to build off that game on Primetime.

Fantasy Football Analysis: Kansas City Chiefs running backs

So last week, coach Andy Reid decided to make RB LeSean McCoy a healthy scratch. This opened up massive usage for Damien Williams, with backup Darrel Williams only seeing three touches and 17 snaps compared to Damien, who played 60 snaps. If Shady is inactive again, we should see a similar workload for Damien in a good matchup vs. the Chargers, who are allowing 110.5 rushing yards per game.

But his usage in the passing game could be key. Damien Williams had 10 carries for 49 yards and two TDs last season vs. the Chargers, but also added six catches for 74 yards, a massive outing. Given the nature of his status (non-injury related) I think it’s more than safe to roll out Williams in all formats. He’s also not a bad Captain’s Pick in DraftKings Showdown contests at $11,100 ($7,400 FLEX).

Need some last minute start/sit advice? Fantasy points projections can help, and we’ve got them for Week 11 Monday Night Football.

The Los Angeles Chargers “host” the Kansas City Chiefs in Mexico City on Monday Night Football in an AFC West matchup to close out Week 11. The Chiefs are 6-4 atop the division, while the Chargers are 4-6. The Chargers need this game to get right back into the AFC West hunt and to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Kansas City will get left tackle Eric Fisher back on Monday night. His presence gives the Chiefs their healthiest offensive line of the season, which is needed against Joey Bosa. Their cornerback Kendall Fuller is questionable with a thumb injury. If he can’t go, Keenan Allen gets a bump.

The Chargers could be without both of their tackles in this game, with Sam Tevi out and Russell Okung questionable after not practicing this week. Kansas City ranks sixth in sacks per game this season, so Philip Rivers could have trouble finding a clean pocket in Mexico.

There are plenty of start/sit decisions to consider for both teams. Patrick Mahomes says he’s as healthy as he’s been all season, which is scary for the Chargers. Philip Rivers hasn’t played well this year, but will likely need to throw to try to keep up with Mahomes. Damien Williams had a personal issue that kept him out of some practice this week, but made the trip and should continue to see a big lead in work over LeSean McCoy and others. Melvin Gordon is finally back into a groove and gets a great matchup against Kansas City’s weak run defense. The ground game is likely the Chargers best chance to upset Kansas City.

Matchups are crucial, but it helps to see what the analytics are saying about potential performances. Looking at ESPN fantasy projections, Mahomes has the highest projection at 21.6 fantasy points with Tyreek Hill second, coming in at 19.4. The Chargers are lead by Melvin Gordon, who projects at 15.6 but Austin Ekeler isn’t far behind at 13.6. Both backs, as usual, are playable in fan

Week 11 closes with the Chiefs and Chargers squaring off in a potential shootout on Monday Night Football. We’ve got all the fantasy football and odds info you’ll need to get ready for the game.

The NFL is entering the playoff home stretch, and Week 11 closes out with a critical matchup on Monday Night Football. The Los Angeles Chargers face the Kansas City Chiefs in Mexico City, with the AFC West lead on the line for Kansas City. The game kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET and airs on ESPN. The game will also stream on WatchESPN.

The Chiefs are 6-4 and currently tied with the Oakland Raiders atop the division. If the Chiefs win, they’ll hold a half game lead on the Raiders. If they lose, Oakland gets the half game lead for the time being. The Chargers are 4-6 and sit two games back of the Chiefs in the division and the Texans and Raiders in the wild card race. A Chargers win keeps them in the mix, while a loss puts their playoff hopes on life support.

Fantasy football start/sit advice

This is a game where you should be starting most of your fantasy options. The point total is 52.5 at DraftKings Sportsbook, and it’s safe to say this should be a shootout. The big question coming into the game is the status of Damien Williams. The Chiefs running back was questionable due to a family matter, but he traveled with the team to Mexico City and should start.

Strong start: QB Patrick Mahomes, WR Tyreek Hill, TE Travis Kelce, RB Damien Williams, K Harrison Butker, QB Philip Rivers, RB Melvin Gordon, TE Hunter Henry, WR Keenan Allen, WR Mike Williams, RB Austin Ekeler, K Michael Badgley

Pick against the spread

The Chiefs are a 4.5-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook. The line is just a little bit too high given the Chiefs defensive issues. Their run defense is particularly bad, and I think we see Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler have huge games on Monday. The Chiefs will likely win this game, but it will be a close affair. I could see a 31-27 or 34-31 type of final score. I’d take the Chargers to cover and the over.

The Robert Woods news is unexpected. We’ve got a list of alternatives to consider in fantasy football.

The Los Angeles Rams stunned all of us on Sunday when they announced that Robert Woods is inactive for Week 11 Sunday Night Football. The team announced he is dealing with a personal issue, and it leaves fantasy football owners scrambling late Sunday.

If you were planning on starting Woods today, there are limited options remaining to replace him. Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson tonight are all owned, while Tyreek Hill, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams won’t be available for you tomorrow. Instead, you need to find players owned in less than 50 percent of fantasy leagues.

Some players to consider for the four teams left to play:

Bears: Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller

Rams: Josh Reynolds, Mike Thomas

Chiefs: Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson

Chargers: Andre Patton

Of those names, Reynolds, Gabriel, Hardman, and Robinson are the best options. I would argue Reynolds is the best option with Woods and Brandin Cooks both inactive. Of the Chiefs receivers, I’d lean Hardman a little over Robinson.

This is a rather surprising development in Week 11.

UPDATE: If you need a replacement for Woods, here are waiver options to consider.

UPDATE: The Rams announced that Woods is out because of “a personal issue.”

The Los Angeles Rams announced their Week 11 inactives and wide receiver Robert Woods is an unexpected INACTIVE. There is no word yet on what led to the move. He was not on the team’s injury report this week.

A week ago, Woods was targeted 11 times and caught seven passes for 95 yards. He led the team in receiving yards and was second in targets behind tight end Gerald Everett. Cooper Kupp was targeted four times but did not catch a single pass for the first time in his career. It’s safe to say with Woods an unexpected inactive that Kupp will get plenty of opportunities in Week 11 on Sunday Night Football against the Bears.

Josh Reynolds is the receiver most likely to benefit from Woods’ absence. He has stepped up in recent weeks during Brandin Cooks’ absence. He had three receptions for 49 yards last week and three for 73 and a touchdown the week prior.

The Rams tight end looks like he will play this week, despite his questionable status.

UPDATE: Gerald Everett is active.

The Los Angeles Rams have officially listed tight end Gerald Everett as questionable for this week’s Sunday night game against the Chicago Bears. He is dealing with a wrist injury that made him a limited participant in practice all week. The good news is that Everett is expected to play.

Head coach Sean McVay expressed optimism about Everett’s status leading into this week’s game. And, hey, if the head coach says his player is good to go, well, that is usually a pretty good sign that the guy will play.

Everett was targeted 12 times against the Steelers last week, catching eight of those passes for 68 yards. A second-round pick in the 2017 draft, he has been getting more and more looks from quarterback Jared Goff this year, and he’s already set new career-highs with 365 yards and 34 receptions.

Fantasy football analysis, Los Angeles Rams TE Gerald Everett

Everett’s numbers speak for themselves. He’s been a reliable presence in fantasy lineups for most of the season. And while the Bears defense is still decent, they’ve been giving up points to tight ends pretty regularly this year.
