Pats WR Julian Edelman should be Tom Brady’s top target, assuming he’s healthy. We’re tracking his fantasy performances and news updates throughout the season.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 13

Edelman was denied the end zone against the Cowboys, but still managed a respectable eight catches for 93 yards. With the Patriots playing Sunday night in Week 13, Edelman will only appear on the Sunday night Showdown slate or the Thursday-Monday slate, and does not currently have a salary.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 12

Edelman caught five passes for 53 yards and threw a 15-yard touchdown in Sunday’s win over Philadelphia. Edelman keeps chugging along, even as the Patriots’ offense struggles. He is priced at $6,900 for the Week 12 marquee matchup with Dallas.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 11

Edelman returns from a bye ready to face the Eagles and build on a strong five-week run. Edelman had 17.9 DKFP in Week 9, which came after 27.5 DKFP in Week 8. His salary climbs $600 this week to $7,600 as the Patriots face an Eagles defense that has given up the sixth most fantasy points to the wide receiver position.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 10

It was a rough Sunday night for the Patriots in Week 9 against the Ravens, getting beat and beat-up in a 37-20 loss, their first defeat of the season in their first game against a legitimate opponent. And Edelman may have had the roughest night of all, despite catching 10 passes (on 11 targets) for 89 yards. It was Edelman’s fumble on the opening drive of the second half that was returned for a touchdown – after the Patriots had closed the first half with 13 unanswered points to get within four of the Ravens – that essentially sealed the Patriots’ fate. Still, it was another hugely productive night for Edelman, but it will have no bearing on his Week 10 salary: The Patriots are going on their bye week.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 9

When you play for the Patriots, you are going to play a lot of Sunday night and Monday night games. So it is with Edelman, who will not have his Week 8 salary revealed until later this week, and will only be truly useful in Sunday night Showdown contests when the Pats play Baltimore on Sunday night. But he will be a key element of any Showdown slate after his fourth straight big game, catching eight passes for a team-high 78 yards and two touchdowns.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 8

Edelman was productive, if not spectacular, in Monday night’s rout of the Jets. Frankly, Edelman wasn’t needed as the Jets self-destructed under pressure from the Patriots’ defense. Still, Edelman caught seven passes for 47 yards and ran for another 20 for 13.7 DraftKings points. Edelman is priced up to $6,900 for Week 8 against the Browns, a game that should require his talents on a much more meaningful basis. He remains a solid play every week.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 7

For the second straight week, Edelman will not be playing on Sunday, as the Patriots will take on the Jets on Monday night. Therefore, his DraftKings salary will not be known until the Thu-Sun slate is released later this week. When his salary is released, it promises to be on the rise after breaking 100 yards receiving for the second straight game with a 9-113 line against the Giants last Thursday. Edelman should be considered in all slates, and would make an ideal Captain in the Showdown contest.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 6

Edelman’s rib/chest issue is part of the past now, as the receiver lit up hapless Washington for eight catches on nine targets for 110 yards and a touchdown. And just as well that Edelman is healthy again, as the Pats have a quick turnaround and play Thursday against the Giants, another team that can’t stop the pass. Because it’s Thursday, Edelman is only going to be available in the Mon-Thur slate ($6,900), as well as the Thur-Mon and Thursday Showdown slates, not yet released. Edelman should be considered in all slates, and would make an ideal Captain in the Showdown contest.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 5

Edelman shook off whatever rib/chest injury he was dealing with last week and was targeted seven times on Sunday, catching four for 30 yards. It was a pedestrian effort against a tough Bills defense that frustrated the Patriots’ passing game all day. The 32nd-ranked Washington pass defense will offer up little to resistance in Week 5, making Edelman’s $6,300 salary – a drop of $200 from Week 4 – very enticing. Washington is just the tonic for a passing game looking to re-establish itself.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 4

The biggest news for Edelman coming out of the Patriots’ blowout win over the Jets wasn’t his seven catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. What had fantasy owners breathing a sigh of relief is the indication that the rib injury that knocked him from the game isn’t considered serious. Edelman, who is priced at $6,500 for Week 4 against the Bills, is back in the role of Tom Brady’s top option now that Antonio Brown is gone. Keep an eye on the tea leaves during the week, as the Pats will do everything they can not to let you know his status for Sunday.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 3

Edelman and the rest of the Patriots’ passing attack took a backseat to the stellar play of the defense in a 43-0 dismantling of the Dolphins Sunday. Edelman caught all four of his targets for 51 yards and didn’t find the endzone. The pedestrian outing, and the presence of Antonio Brown and his eight targets, lowered Edelman’s Week 3 DraftKings salary by to $6,300, a drop of $600. That could make Edelman a steal against the Jets should the league put Brown on the restricted list this week. But with Brown present, it makes trusting any of the Patriots’ receivers that much harder.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 2

Edelman caught six passes for 83 yards and even chipped in a 32-yard pass play during the Patriots’ 33-3 demolition job over the Steelers on Sunday night. Because it was the late game Sunday, Edelman’s salary remained at $6,900 for the Patriots’ Week 2 matchup with the woeful Dolphins in Miami. It seems likely that Antonio Brown, priced at a remarkably low salary of $7,000, will play in this game, making Edelman’s target share a bit of unknown. Monitor Brown’s status, as his availability directly ties into Edelman’s value. Keep in mind, the Patriots lost on that embarrassing lateral play to Miami late last year, so don’t be shocked if Edelman and Co. play all 60 minutes and score 100 points. Seriously.

Julian Edelman 2019 fantasy football preview

It’s been a good 2019 thus far for Julian Edelman. In February, he won Super Bowl LIII MVP honors. In the offseason, Edelman was rewarded with a contract extension, then became the de facto leader of the passing game with the retirement of tight end Rob Gronkowski. Tom Brady is back, at age 42, and Edelman is poised for arguably his best season as a pro.

Even with Josh Gordon back in the mix at receiver and with the Pats drafting N’Keal Harry in the first round, it’s Edelman’s world and we’re all living in it. Indeed, when Gordon and Edelman appeared in the same game last season, a total of 10 games, Edelman out-targeted Gordon 92-67.

The only thing that could hold Edelman back is a left thumb injury that cost the 33-year-old the majority of the preseason, but when healthy, Edelman is an elite receiver worth of early-round treatment in drafts.

What is Julian Edelman’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 1

Edelman leads Patriots receivers with a $6,900 salary, just ahead of Josh Gordon ($5,500). You will want to monitor Edelman’s left thumb this week. He missed almost all of training camp because of the broken thumb, and during a cameo appearance in the Patriots’ final preseason game Thursday night, he appeared to re-aggravate it. How it affects his Week 1 status remains to be seen, but don’t expect much insight from the Patriots themselves.

With the retirement of Andrew Luck there should be opportunities for Colts RB Marlon Mack. We’re tracking his fantasy performances and news updates throughout the season.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 13

Mack had surgery on his broken hand last week and is out indefinitely. He is priced at $6,200 on DraftKings for Week 13, but barring a miracle, he will be inactive.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 12

Mack sustained a broken hand in Sunday’s victory over Jacksonville and is out indefinitely. With the Colts playing Thursday, Mack would not be on the Week 12 main slate regardless, but he is obviously unplayable until further notice.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 11

It’s been a rough couple weeks for Mack, coinciding with Jacoby Brissett’s knee injury. In Week 10, Mack had 19 rushes for 74 yards and an eight-yard reception, finishing with 9.2 DKFP. The Colts host the Jaguars in Week 11, and Mack’s salary dropped $600 to $6,400.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 10

One of the more intriguing and logic-defying trends of the 2019 fantasy season continued right on cue in Week 9, as Mack, despite getting 21 carries against the Steelers, managed just 89 yards and scored just 8.9 DraftKings points. Mack has now appeared in eight games this season, and has alternated between single-digit and double-digit performances each week. This was a single-digit week, so naturally, DraftKings priced Mack up to his highest salary of the season next week at $7,000. It probably also has to do with the Colts hosting the no-longer-winless-but-still-defensively-inept Dolphins. Needless to say, Mack is due for a double-digit outing, and Miami is just the team to allow it.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 9

Mack was back to doing what he does best on Sunday against the Broncos, carrying the ball 19 times for 76 yards and a touchdown in a tight, 15-13 victory. Mack has gotten himself into an interesting pattern through seven games of alternating solid performances with forgettable ones. Week 8 was a solid one with 16.0 DraftKings points. His seven totals this season are now: 28.4, 8.4 16.8, 3.9, 20.8, 8.8, 16.0. You get the idea. Mack, who is priced at $6,300 for Week 9, might not break the pattern, as the Colts face a resurgent Steelers defense in Pittsburgh.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 8

Mack had a disappointing day, relatively speaking, in the Colts’ 30-23 victory over the Texans on Sunday. This game was the Jacoby Brissett show, with Mack taking a backseat with 8.6 DraftKings points. But Mack did carry the ball 18 times and had three targets, so his usage remains at a high level, even if it didn’t translate to production on Sunday. Mack’s price increases ever-so slightly to $6,100 in Week 8, which keeps him as a fine mid-range option at home against a Denver defense that gives up decent numbers to running backs.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 7

The Colts are back from their Week 6 bye and Mack should be ready to roll after crushing the Chiefs back in Week 5 with 132 yards rushing on 29 carries. Mack’s salary jumps to $6,000 this week after taking a huge dip back in Week 5 down to $4,900. Mack draws a matchup at home against the Texans and there’s no reason to think the Colts will shy away from their top weapon, making Mack is solid play even with his price set more appropriately for his talent and production.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 6

The Indianapolis Colts are on a bye in Week 6, and that is great news for Mack, who played heroically in Sunday night’s upset victory over the previously unbeaten Chiefs, carrying the ball 29 times for 132 yards and catching all three of his targets for another 16 yards. All this, despite playing on an injured ankle that almost kept him out of the game. The 14 days between games should do wonders for the balky ankle, making Mack a top candidate to play in Week 7 against the Texans.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 5

With the Colts playing in the Sunday Night game in Week 5 against the Chiefs, we will have to wait for the Thursday-Monday slate to be posted to get a glimpse of Mack’s Week 5 salary. But we already know that Mack will carry an injury designation into this week’s practices after leaving Sunday’s game with an ankle injury and not returning. Mack was already struggling – a season low in carries (11) and yards (39) and was essentially a non-factor with the Colts behind so early. If Mack is able to play Sunday night, he is in a prime spot for a bounce-back against a Chiefs defense that can be beaten on the ground.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 4

Mack continues to be a usage monster for the Colts and he delivered another big game on Sunday, rushing 16 times for 74 yards and a score while also adding two catches on three carries for 14 yards. Mack is up to $6,100 on DraftKings but still feels like a bargain considering how often he touches the ball week-to-week. Mack produced in the victory over Atlanta despite a calf injury that left his availability in doubt last week. If healthy in Week 4, Mack is in a smash spot against the reeling Raiders.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 3

Mack came back to earth against the Titans on Sunday, managing just 51 yards on the ground after his Week 1 explosion of 174. For savvy DFS players, this was the best-case scenario. Mack’s salary drops $100 down to $5,800 for Week 3 against the Falcons at home. Given how much better the Colts play at home, and given that Mack touched the ball almost the same number of times in Week 2 as he did in Week 1, he figures to be an overlooked player in a smash spot. Mack had 20 carries on Sunday, down from his 25 in Week 1. But unlike his donut in the opener, Mack had three pass targets in Week 2, catching two for 13 yards. The Colts will continue to get him around 25 touches, and he should rebound in a big way at home in Week 3. Don’t sleep on him.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 2

As expected, Mack played an enormous role in the post-Luck Colts’ offense on Sunday, carrying the ball 25 times for a career-high 174 yards – including a 63-yard touchdown – and added a two-point conversion for good measure in the Colts’ overtime loss to the Chargers in Los Angeles. Mack now checks in at $5,900 for his Week 2 matchup against the Titans, who shut down Nick Chubb in a mauling of the Browns in Cleveland. The Colts are clearly going to lean on Mack as a runner, but it’s hard to see another performance like Sunday’s, although not impossible. It would be nice if Mack got some passing targets, but if he’s going to keep averaging seven yards per carry, no one will be complaining.

Marlon Mack 2019 fantasy football preview

Even before the Colts had their world turned upside down by Andrew Luck’s shocking retirement announcement, Marlon Mack was poised for his biggest role yet in the offense. In 2018, Mack rushed for 908 yards on 195 carries and scored 10 total touchdowns (nine rushing) as the Colts made the playoffs. Even with Nyheim Hines playing the passing down role, coach Frank Reich made it clear this summer that Mack would be the top runner in the offense.

Now, with Jacoby Brissett replacing Luck at quarterback, Mack’s importance in the offense only increases. How much Reich will let Brissett have free reign remains to be seen, especially early in the season, which should result in Mack carrying an even larger role to help hide Brissett until he fully has his game legs underneath him.

Where that should mostly translate is as a pass catcher. Mack was only targeted by Luck 27 times in 2018. But with more checkdowns likely in the Colts’ future, Mack should see his targets increase, increasing his overall volume. The danger, of course, is that Brissett wilts as a passer and defenses shut Mack down. But if Brissett holds his own, Mack could be in for a big season.

What is Marlon Mack’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 1

At $5,600 on DraftKings, Mack becomes one of the most fascinating options on the Week 1 slate. Given the state of play in Indianapolis entering Week 1, Mack could be the contrarian play that breaks a slate wide open. Consider: Mack’s ownership will almost certainly be depressed by the Andrew Luck news, as DFS players run and hide from all pieces of the Colts attack. But for that very reason – a massive drop-off at QB – Mack’s role in Week 1 could be significantly elevated, as the Colts look to hide Jacoby Brissett. And let’s not forget, the Colts’ Week 1 opponent, the Chargers, are missing their top safety, Derwin James, a huge blow to that unit. Bottom line: Mack should get extra carries and targets at an artificially low ownership. That, my friends, is what value is all about.

Need some last minute start/sit advice? Fantasy points projections can help, and we’ve got them for Week 12 Monday Night Football.

The 6-4 Los Angeles Rams host the 8-2 Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football to wrap up Week 12 of the 2019 NFL season. These two teams are going in opposite directions, as the Ravens with Lamar Jackson at the helm are tearing opponent’s apart while Jared Goff and the Rams can’t get their once potent offense moving.

Thankfully for the Rams, they’ve had a reasonably easy schedule of late, as they’ve been able to beat the Bears and Bengals, but lost to a bad Steelers team. There is still plenty of talent on both sides of the ball, but they’ll need to get their offense turned around, which hinges on what is currently a weak offensive line.

The Ravens have won six in a row, including a victory over the Patriots who were undefeated at the time and the Seahawks in Seattle. In their last four games, they’ve scored 41, 49, 37, and 30 points. They are easily the hottest team in the league.

Both of these teams have a strong defense, so fantasy points might not be flowing as usual, but Lamar Jackson is unstoppable right now. He’s locked into your lineups, but who else from this game is worth firing up? Let’s see what the analytics are saying about potential performances. Looking at ESPN fantasy projections, Todd Gurley is the only player besides Jackson who is projected to top 14 fantasy points. With two tough pass defenses and what looks like a full complement of receivers on both sides, it is tough to project one receiver breaking out based on usage. Mark Andrews and Cooper Kupp are the leaders for each team, and they have similar projections at 13 fantasy points. Picking the right receiver in this matchup will be tough, but there is enough talent and likely enough passing, to give these receivers a shot this week.

Can Lamar Jackson make an MVP statement in primetime? We break down the best options for the MNF DraftKings Showdown matchup.

For the second consecutive week, the Rams are playing in a primetime game. Last week, they beat the Bears on Sunday Night Football to keep playoff hopes alive. The Rams are still fighting an uphill battle and might need to win the rest of their games to get a Wild Card spot.

This week they face a rolling Ravens squad. They are going to have their hands full against MVP favorite Lamar Jackson. He brings a rushing upside we haven’t seen from the quarterback position since Michael Vick. Even though the Rams have the eighth ranked defense by DVOA, they could struggle to stop Jackson. Nobody has had much success against him this season. We break down the best options for DraftKings MNF Showdown.

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS

Lamar Jackson ($20,400)

By a mile, Jackson has been the top fantasy producer this season. Despite the strength of the Rams’ defense, it’s hard to see Jackson failing in any spot. His rushing numbers give him an impossibly high floor. Jackson is averaging 28.7 DKFP and has at least 21 DKFP in nine of his 10 games. He’s also been throwing the ball well lately and has seven touchdown passes in his last two games.

CAPTAIN COURAGEOUS

Marquise Brown ($12,000)

Brown doesn’t play a ton of snaps, making him a risky play. The good news for his upside is that when he is on the field, he is typically streaking down the field and Jackson is almost always looking for him. Even though his floor is low, the big play potential for Brown makes a player who can break any DFS slate. Brown averages 15.9 yards per catch.

FLEX MEN

Todd Gurley ($8,800)

The Ravens have a strong pass defense. The way to beat them is on the ground and Gurley occasionally shows flashes of being the unstoppable force we saw early last year. He doesn’t have the same role from last last season although this may change since the Rams are desperate for wins on the outside of the playoff picture. This reason I think this is because he touched the ball 28 times last week, easily his highest usage of the season. The Ravens’ defense is ranked 25th in run defense DVOA.

Seth Roberts ($1,200)

To fit Jackson into the captain spot, which I recommend, we are going to need to save salary somewhere in the lineup. After catching a touchdown last week, Roberts appears to be a cheap punt play with a bit of upside. It’s possible that Roberts is going to be a guy more involved in the red zone going forward.

It was not a pretty performance in Week 12 from either of Washington’s running backs. We break down the fantasy football numbers and what it means moving forward.

The Washington backfield is officially a quagmire for fantasy football owners. I suppose this isn’t really breaking news now that Derrius Guice is back in the picture, but it’s worth noting. Guice and Adrian Peterson are splitting work, and it continued in Week 12.

Guice and Peterson each finished the game with ten carries and one reception. Guice rushed for 32 yards and had a six-yard reception, finishing with 4.8 DKFP. Peterson rushed for 27 yards and had a 22-yard reception, finishing with 5.90 DKFP.

This is a backfield to avoid in all fantasy football scenarios. Guice could regain his starting job and become a force next year, but it’s hard to see him emerging as much of a force in 2019. Peterson seems like the kind of veteran back that Bill Callahan loves and will always give a little too much work. Guice should be getting the bulk of the touches, but that is not happening anytime soon this season.

Washington got a big upset win over Detroit in Week 12, but things get difficult moving forward. They travel to face Carolina and Green Bay and then hosts Philadelphia. I wouldn’t expect much of anything from Guice and Peterson for the near future.

Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams

Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones are one of the better running back duos in the league, but so far they’ve had major trouble moving the ball on the 49ers defense. Jones has 10 rushing attempts for 27 yards with his longest run going 11 yards. He’s had no room against the 49ers monster front.

Jamaal Williams also hasn’t had any luck on the ground, as he has four carries for 11 yards. Williams has had a little more luck through the air though, as he’s caught five passes for 25 yards. As the third quarter wanes, and the Packers trail by 22 points, there’s a good chance the running back duo will need their work to come through the air if they’re to dig out of their fantasy hole tonight.

UPDATE

Jamaal Williams managed to scrape together a useful PPR night, as he caught 7-of-8 targets for 35 yards and ran the ball 11 times for 45 more yards. Hs 15 PPR fantasy points were second to only Davante Adams on the team, who managed the Packers only touchdown.

Aaron Jones only saw one target, which he didn’t catch, and ran the ball 13 times for 38 yards. His lack of targets have become a problem of late and have coincided with Davante Adam’s return from a foot injury. With a lack of talent at receiver and tight end, the Packers probably could have used Jones as a receiver more often against the 49ers.

Derrick Henry continues his domination of the Jaguars, as he runs over them for two touchdowns in 20 seconds.

UPDATE: Henry finished the game with 159 rushing yards and two touchdowns and added a 16-yard reception in the Titans win.

The last time the Jaguars defense met Derrick Henry, he carried the ball 17 times for 238 yards and four touchdowns. After that level of embarrassing beatdown, you would think Jacksonville would do everything in their power to slow him down. Well, maybe they did, but it didn’t work.

Henry hasn’t quite lived up to his 14 yards per carry from last year, but he hasn’t disappointed his fantasy backers either. Through three-quarters, he’s run the ball 17 times for 152 yards and two touchdowns, to help the Titans to a commanding 35-11 lead.

Those two touchdowns resulted from a 74-yard touchdown run that was followed up by fumbled kick return which gave Henry a shot from the seven yard line, which he took in for his second touchdown in 20 seconds. He becomes the first player since Ladainian Tomlinson to accomplish that feat.

With so many key 49ers players listed as questionable, the best advice for this slate is to check the inactives before kickoff. There could be late-breaking value to consider

UPDATE: George Kittle is ACTIVE and Matt Breida is INACTIVE.

A disclaimer before we begin: Because of all the questionable tags on key 49ers players, it is absolutely critical that you check the inactives Sunday afternoon before finalizing your lineups. A key inactive could open up all sorts of value opportunities. That said, let’s look at some players to target in DraftKings’ $888,888 six-man Showdown slate -- with an entry fee of $10 and a first-place prize of $200,000 -- and who to use in the critical Captain slot:

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS

Davante Adams, WR, Green Bay Packers ($14,100)

Even more than the two quarterbacks in this game, Adams presents a high floor and the upside to put up a slate-breaking score. He is arguably the most-likely player on either team to put up more than 20 DraftKings points, which becomes a 30-burger from the Captain slot. In his two games since returning from an injury, Adams has 14 receptions on 21 targets. He topped 100 yards receiving last week. All he needs now is to find the end zone and we could have a slate-winning effort.

CAPTAIN COURAGEOUS

Deebo Samuel, WR, San Francisco 49ers ($12,300)

The 49ers seem confident that Samuel, one of three pass-catchers listed as questionable, will play on Sunday night. Samuel has put two terrific games on the board the past two weeks, surpassing 100 yards receiving in each, so if his shoulder injury isn’t serious, he’s right there with Adams in terms of upside.

FLEX MEN

Tevin Coleman, RB, San Francisco ($9,000)

We would love to use Coleman in the Captain slot, just based on the Packers’ struggles against the run, but Coleman isn’t really producing at the level you need to justify the Captain slot. The opportunity will be there Sunday with Matt Breida listed as doubtful, but Coleman has really only had one big game in this scenario, and Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson are going to siphon carries. Still, he’s the most talented back in a good spot, so don’t be afraid to use him.

Ross Dwelley, TE, San Francisco ($5,200)

George Kittle says he’s going to play, but it sounds like he’s still far less than 100 percent, so he could find himself on a snap count. Dwelley was Mr. Touchdown last week and his chemistry with Jimmy Garoppolo is growing by the week, so if Kittle can’t go or is limited, Dwelley is going to be a factor. This is the “check the inactives” play of the week.
