Last week on Monday Night Football, ESPN announcer Joe Tessitore accidentally called Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf “Decaf Metcalf.” It was an amusing slip of the tongue that he corrected, but a week later, Metcalf and Tessitore are cashing in.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that a Georgia-based coffee company called Volcanica Coffee partnered with Metcalf to sell 16-ounce bags of “Decaf Metcalf” coffee. Tessitore “blessed the deal,” according to Schefter, and he and Metcalf worked with Volcanica to ensure part of the proceeds go to charity. Metcalf will donate his portion to Prison Fellowship and Tessitore will donate his portion to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

It was an amusing gaffe during the broadcast, but it’s really cool to see something particularly positive come out of it.

He’s an MVP quarterback, but he managed to have an awful mic’d up segment.

ESPN has mic’d up players for Monday Night Football throughout the season, and more often than not they’re fairly innocuous. Oftentimes we hear mostly grunts and little else. There has occasionally been an interesting one, like when Sam Darnold talked about seeing ghosts against the Patriots defense.

This past Monday, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson just how bad the mic’d up segment can be. ESPN mic’d up the start QB, and while he is a great player who deserves MVP consideration, his mic’d up will go down as one of the worst. He was a cliche machine in trying to fire up his team throughout a back-and-forth game. Cliches are necessary at times, but it felt like he was only speaking in cliches.

Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny had a huge Week 12, and appears to have worked his way into a time share with Chris Carson in Week 13. We break down the fantasy football implications.

Final score update: Penny rushed 15 times for 74 yards and a touchdown and Chris Carson rushed 23 times for 102 yards and a touchdown in a 34-30 Seahawks win. It’s safe to say we’re going to see a lot of both running backs the rest o f the way.

UPDATE: Midway through the third quarter, Carson has 13 carries for 67 yards and a touchdown, and Penny has eight carries for 43 yards and a touchdown.

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny had a huge game in Week 12, rushing for 129 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries as he supplanted Chris Carson on the depth chart. He was the hot hand, and in the days following the performance, head coach Pete Carroll said they would look for ways to get Penny involved on offense.

It looks like we could see a bit of a split in the workload in Week 13. Chris Carson got the start but took a helmet to the head and left to be evaluated for a concussion. He was cleared and returned a drive later, but Penny is off to a solid start complementing him. Through the first quarter, Carson has rushed six times for 14 yards and a touchdown while Penny has rushed four times for 23 yards. Penny has also caught two passes for 15 yards.

It’s still early, but we appear to have a timeshare in place in the Seahawks backfield. It’s great for Seahawks running back depth, but not so great for fantasy football players.

Kickers gotta ruin everything.

The Seattle Seahawks have stumbled at times at home this season after years of dominance at CenturyLink Field, but in Week 13, they got a huge win. The Seahawks outlasted the Minnesota Vikings 37-30 and with the win move into first place in the NFC West.

If you bet on the Seattle Seahawks, you got a huge boost courtesy of Vikings kicker Dan Bailey. The Seahawks trailed 34-24 when Kyle Rudolph leapt high in the air to haul in a Kirk Cousins touchdown pass with 7:14 to go in the fourth quarter. The score cut the lead to 34-30, pending Bailey’s extra point. Bailey then promptly missed. The Seahawks added a field goal late to put the game away.

The point spread had some modest movement this week, but it was sitting at a field goal as of kickoff. If you bet the Vikings +3, or even bought an extra half point to get them +3.5, you came up short due to the stinking kicker. Sure, the Seahawks added three more points, but if Bailey makes that kick, there’s a decent chance the Vikings punt and try for a defensive stop instead of turning it over on downs in their own territory. We’ll never know for sure.

The Seahawks improve to 10-2 with the win and now sit atop the NFC West by virtue of their win over the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara back in Week 10. The Vikings drop to 8-4 and sit one game up on the Los Angeles Rams for the second wild card berth.

Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett has been slowed by a leg injury, but is set to play in on Monday Night Football vs. the Vikings. We break down the fantasy football implications.

The Seattle Seahawks will have their full contingent of wide receivers for a critical Week 13 matchup. The team announced their inactive report for Monday Night Football vs. the Minnesota Vikings, and wide receiver Tyler Lockett is active for the game.

Lockett injured his lower leg in Week 10 vs. the San Francisco 49ers and spent a couple days in a Bay Area hospital. He was released for the Seahawks bye week and was able to play in Week 12. He caught one pass on two targets for 38 yards. This past week, he was listed as a limited participant at Thursday practice, but then was a DNP on Friday and Saturday. However, he was entirely removed from Seattle’s final injury report.

The Vikings have given up the fourth most fantasy points to wide receivers this season. They’re a solid matchup for Lockett and he is worth sticking with even at less than 100 percent. DK Metcalf is also worth a look in a lot of formats. Josh Gordon, however, should remain on your bench until he proves he can find consistent looks in the offense.

Need some last minute start/sit advice? Fantasy points projections can help, and we’ve got them for Week 13 Monday Night Football.

The Vikings and Seahawks face off in a game they both need to keep pace in their division races. Both teams have plenty of fantasy players to choose from but Adam Thielen will not play based on multiple reports. That should boost Stefon Diggs, Kyle Rudolph and Irv Smith Jr.

Looking at the ESPN fantasy projections, Russell Wilson leads the way against a Vikings pass defense that has been their weakness this year. Kirk Cousins sits behind his running back Dalvin Cook with 17.4 projected fantasy points to Cook’s 21, as it should be, as Cook only has Christian McCaffrey ahead of him this season.

The absence of Thielen does narrow things down a bit, but after Diggs, we still have Rudolph, Smith and Bisi Johnson to choose from, which isn’t easy. The projections favor Rudolph but still don’t like him for a big game with Smith there.

In a battle with serious playoff implications, how can we approach lineup construction for the Minnesota-Seattle Showdown on DraftKings? Here’s a full breakdown.

Outside of 49ers-Ravens, this is the most important game on the Week 13 slate. So thankfully we’ve got a featured Showdown contest on DraftKings for it! The Seahawks enter this game 9-2, staring down the Niners for first place in the NFC West. The Vikings are tied with the Packers at 8-3 atop the NFC North. Both the Seahawks and Vikings occupy the two wild card spots in the NFC, but are obviously fighting for better position. This should give us a relatively competitive game, plus the O/U is set at 50, so plenty of scoring should go down. Let’s take a look at how to approach lineup construction for DraftKings’ featured Showdown contest.

Captain Obvious

Kirk Cousins ($13,500)

I think this is a good spot to roll with Cousins and his price is relatively cheap in the Captain’s spot for a QB. The game environment should play in his favor: The Seahawks are slight home favorites and the point total is high. The Vikings may need to ditch the run a bit and throw if Russell Wilson and Seattle goes up early. Even if Dalvin Cook gets a ton of touches, I think Cousins should have an easy time picking apart the Seahawks’ secondary. WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) is reportedly going to be out, but that’s been the case the past few weeks, so not much changes.

Captain Courageous

Josh Gordon ($6,600)

Sure, there’s risk in captaining Gordon, but if you’re playing GPPs it’s not all that crazy. Gordon has been getting around 20-25 snaps, so he’ll have to make the most of his limited targets. I think the Seahawks would be wise to mix things up and stretch the field with the Vikings’ run defense tough to deal with. Gordon’s a home-run hitter, so he’d really only need to break one to return value. Plus, I always like paying down a bit at Captain to stack my lineup.

Flex Men

Rashaad Penny ($5,400)

I know that I’ve mentioned the Vikings’ run defense being tough, but this is more of a GPP play to catch lightning in a bottle. Penny was a trendy pick-up in season-long after his big game in Week 12, going for 129 yards and a TD vs. the Eagles for 21.9 DKFP. If the Seahawks decide to split carries between Penny and Chris Carson, I think this price point is appealing. Penny may not be targeted as much as we’d like, but this is another play to save salary.

Jason Myers ($3,800)

If we expect a lot of scoring in this game, we should expect a lot of FG opportunities for Myers in the red zone. The Seahawks may stall on some drives if they can’t convert on the ground within the 10-yard line, so I think Myers isn’t a bad FLEX option. You can easily plug Myers in there and then stack Russell Wilson ($10,800) with Tyler Lockett ($9,600) and DK Metcalf ($7,600), or Cousins ($9,000) with Stefon Diggs ($9,800) and Dalvin Cook ($11,800).

Dear lord, I’m betting on Kirk Cousins on the road in prime time.

The Seattle Seahawks host the Minnesota Vikings to close out Week 13 with some serious playoff implications. This week’s Monday Night Football matchup features the top two teams in the NFC wild card race. The Seahawks are 9-2 and would move into first place in the NFC West with a win. The Vikings are 8-3 and would remain tied with the Packers in the NFC North, but behind in the head-to-head tiebreaker.

The Seahawks are a field goal favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook, with the point total set at 50. The Seahawks are -148 on the money line, while the Vikings are +130. Both teams are 6-5 against the spread and both teams have gone over the point total six times.

Injury report

The Vikings are dealing with a host of injuries. The team downgraded wide receiver Adam Thielen to out due to his hamstring injury. Starters listed as questionable include safety Anthony Harris (groin), defensive tackle Linval Joseph (knee), strong safety Harrison Smith (hamstring), and defensive tackle Shamar Stephen (knee).

The big news for the Seahawks is that they expect defensive end Jadeveon Clowney to return to action on Monday. He missed Week 12 with a core muscle injury, but will reportedly play through it and get surgery in the offseason. Although his sack total isn’t high, he’s been a consistent presence harassing quarterbacks.

Pick against the spread

The line has moved back and forth a bit, but is finally settling at a field goal. If you could get it Minnesota at 3.5 points I would say jump all over it. That being said, I’ll still take the field goal with the Vikings. I’ve spent much of this year, and much of the past couple years willing to bet on Kirk Cousins on the road or in prime time ... or on the road in prime time. And yet, it seems like he’s starting to put some things together.

The Vikings and Seahawks are similar in offensive efficiency metrics, while the Vikings defense has been a step better on the season than Seattle. In looking at net yards per play, the Vikings seventh at 0.7, while the Seahawks rank 14th at 0.1. Net yards per play isn’t the end-all, be-all of stats, but it’s a valuable one for trying to remove some of the randomness out of the equation.

This should be a fun one, and I think the Vikings actually win this game outright. And I’m sure I won’t regret betting against an MVP candidate like Russell Wilson.
