If you pay up for a quarterback this week, which one gives you the best chance of coming out on top?

We don’t get Lamar Jackson on the main slate this week, so we’ll have to go check the dumpsters and back alleys for our quarterback this week. I’m also not sold on Patrick Mahomes with his bruised hand, but I will likely throw him ini a GPP this week. Jameis Winston is hurting and the Lions probably won’t put up many points with David Blough behind center, so he’s a tough sell.

For higher priced quarterbacks this week, we have to look to the AFC South and maybe out in the desert.

DeShaun Watson, Texans ($6,800) at Titans

Watson threw one touchdown to two interceptions last week against Denver but also rushed for two more touchdowns. And the week before he was nearly perfect against the Patriots. It’s not always what you think it will be but Watson brings home the paycheck each week and this week he gets a Titans pass defense that is missing key players. This game is also huge for both teams, as they battle it out for the AFC South crown. It also has the highest over/under of the week with Ryan Tannehill playing extremely well of late.

Ryan Tannehill, Titans ($6,500) vs. Texans

Tannehill has turned his career around in a big way, as he’s averaged 264 yards passing (73.4 completion percentage) for 15 touchdowns to five interceptions in seven games. He’s also added three rushing touchdowns. That puts him as the No.2 quarterback in DK points per game since his first start in Week 7. Now he faces a Texans pass defense that has been poor for much of the season, culminating in a huge game for Drew Lock last week. Even the barely animated corpse of Tom Brady had three touchdowns against them. Tannehill is a top tier play this week.

Baker Mayfield, Browns ($6,400) at Cardinals

Mayfield isn’t a safe play, as he was awful last week against the Bengals, but the Cardinals are the best team in the league for a quarterback to face right now and we can assure nice weather out in the desert. Arizona leads the league in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks and have given up the best completion percentage, and most completions, yards and touchdown passes. Mayfield is hard to trust but he has shown good upside and this week he will have to try hard to fail.

Fantasy Football Analysis: Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard

With Howard out, not much changes in Philly’s backfield against the Giants. Miles Sanders should lead the backfield again after getting 22 touches in Week 13 vs. the Dolphins. He racked up 83 yards on the ground and added five catches for 22 yards and a TD. New York has allowed 114.3 rushing yards per game and this is a crucial home game for the Eagles.

I’d imagine Sanders will get plenty of work again, and he’s a very appealing play in season-long fantasy football formats and on DraftKings’ Showdown contest. I wouldn’t think twice about Sanders. Jay Ajayi did get a few carries last week, but I wouldn’t be concerned about him cutting into Sanders’ production.

He missed Week 12 with a knee injury that has been nagging him for some time.

Fantasy Football Analysis: Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor

The Eagles welcomed back Alshon Jeffery from the injury list in Week 13, and he stepped up in a big way. Jeffery caught nine of 16 targets for 137 yards and a touchdown. He more than doubled the targets of the next Eagles pass catcher, tight end Dallas Goedert with seven. Agholor had three catches for 41 yards and the only other receivers targeted were J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and Greg Ward Jr., who had a combined two catches for 20 yards.

Jeffery is the only fantasy option of note among the Eagles receivers. Arcega-Whiteside is an interesting long-term option, but for re-draft leagues with the playoffs on the line, he’s not worth playing, or even rostering. Most of whatever looks Agholor would get will likely go to Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, and Miles Sanders. It boosts their respective upsides to a certain degree.

Need some last minute start/sit advice? Fantasy points projections can help, and we’ve got them for Week 14 Monday Night Football.

The Giants head to Philadelphia to try to spoil the Eagles chances for the playoffs. And they’ll face their long time rival Eli Manning, as Daniel Jones will miss this week due to a sprained ankle.

The Eagles are 5-7 but a win ties their record with the Dallas Cowboys who set atop the NFC East with a 6-7 record. We can laugh and point all we like, but one of those two teams will host a playoff game this season.

Matchups are crucial, but it helps to see what the analytics are saying about potential performances. Looking at ESPN fantasy projections, there are plenty of start/sit decisions to consider for both teams.

Wentz leads the projections with 18.9 fantasy points due to the Giants poor pass defense, while Saquon Barkley leads the Giants projections at 18.
The Eagles play the Giants on MNF with aspirations to win the NFC East and a playoff spot.

The Giants head to the city of brotherly love to do their best to thwart their NFC East rival’s chances for the playoffs. The Giants have been eliminated from the playoffs but the Eagles still have a real shot at winning the division despite their losing record.

Eli Manning will get his last hurrah on Monday Night Football against a division rival, which feels right. He’s still not very good but he will have as much energy he can possibly muster for tonight’s game.

Captain Obvious

Carson Wentz, QB, Philadelphia Eagles ($11,800)

Wentz hasn’t been good this season, but he’s also had injuries to his receivers that have hurt him. Last week against the Dolphins, he threw for 310 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. This week he gets another easy defense to target with the Giants coming to town.

The Giants have given up the sixth-most fantasy points and the third-most fantasy points per attempt to quarterbacks this season. The Eagles just gave up a big game to Ryan Fitzpatrick, so there’s a chance the Giants can make a game of it, pushing Wentz’s workload up as well.

Captain Courageous

Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles ($10,600)

Eli Manning has a pea-shooter for an arm, so I expect Barkley to be the leading receiver with Evan Engram out this week. He has a tough matchup on the ground for sure, but the Eagles should get a lead and Barkley will be the main outlet for Manning. He’s also pretty good, and has upside just on his own merits.

Flex Men

Kaden Smith, TE, New York Giants ($2,200)

If you’re going to get Wentz and Barkley on your team, you’ll need some cheap punt options and Smith is darn cheap/ Manning loves targeting tight ends and probably got plenty of work with Smith as a backup. And with Evan Engram and Rhett Ellison out, Smith is the starting tight end. He’s had 5 and 6 receptions in his last two games and 70 yards last week. It isn’t a great matchup, but his price and Manning’s checkdown ways should help.

Alshon Jeffery, WR, Philadelphia Eagles ($9,200)

Jeffery came back from his most-recent injury to put up a huge game on the Dolphins, catching 9-of-16 targets for 137 yards and a touchdown while the Giants have allowed the second-most fantasy points and second-most yards to receivers this season. If Nelson Agholor plays, it might cut into Jeffery’s work a bit, but I like him either way.

Giants QB Eli Manning could be looking at multiple starts in place of an injured Daniel Jones. We break down the fantasy football implications.

The New York Giants face the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football to close out Week 14, and Eli Manning makes his return. Rookie quarterback Daniel Jones suffered a high ankle sprain last week, and Manning will start in his place, marking the veteran’s first start since he was benched after Week 2.

This is not likely to be his last start of the season. Jones is expected to miss two to four weeks, according to NFL Network media. With four games remaining including tonight’s MNF matchup, that suggests Manning will get a home game next week against Miami, and could still be in line to start the home finale against Philadelphia.

If you were ever going to start Eli Manning in fantasy football, it would be next week against a bad Miami Dolphins defense.
Kansas City has now beaten the Top-2 teams in the AFC, downing the Ravens and Patriots.

The 8-4 Chiefs went into Foxboro to take on the 10-2 Patriots and came out victorious 23-16. Tom Brady hooked up with Julian Edelman on a 37-yard touchdown on their first drive, but Kansas City took the lead on a Travis Kelce touchdown and kept the lead throughout.

The Chiefs have now clincched the AFC West with the Raiders losing to the Titans. They also beat the Ravens earlier in the season, now giving them the tiebreaker over the Top-2 seeds in the AFC. At 9-4, they are one game behind the Patriots and two behind the Ravens with three games remaining. Passing the Ravens is probably a pipe dream but Brady and the Patriots have looked human of late.

The Patriots have two cupcake matchups with the Dolphins and Bengals but do face the Bills again. If Kansas City can win out against the Broncos, Bills and Chargers and the Bills upset the Patriots, they’ll have the No. 2 seed in the AFC.

The Patriots loss also give the Bills a window of hope, as they also lost to the Ravens on Sunday. They are one game behind New England and get that matchup to try to even things up.
