We look back at Tom Brady’s performance when playing against Steve Spagnuolo, defensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Probably the most unlikely defensive performance in Super Bowl history came against the 18-0 New England Patriots in 2008. The Patriots were undefeated and had set records for most points scored in a season, most games scoring 30+ points, highest point differential, most first downs, and most touchdowns scored. But when Super Bowl XLII came around, the New York Giants and Steve Spagnuolo’s defense came to play.

The Giants sacked Brady five times that Super Bowl and frustrated him throughout. Brady was able to throw just one touchdown pass as he threw for 261 yards for just 5.4 yards per attempt.

Brady has faced Spagnuolo as defensive coordinator five times and has a 3-2 record against him and his team. The two face off again on Sunday when the Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face Spagnuolo and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Let’s take a look at Brady’s performances in those five matchups.

Patriots 38, Giants 35 — 12/29/07

32/42 (76.2%), 356 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, 1 sack, AY/A 9.43, 116.8 rate

Giants 17, Patriots 14 (SB XLII) — 1/3/08

29.48 (60.4%), 261 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 5 sacks, AY/A 5.54, 82.5 rate

Patriots 27, Giants 26 — 11/15/15

26/42 (61.9%), 334 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT, 3 sacks, AY/A 7.83, 92.8 rate

Chiefs 23, Patriots 15 — 12/8/19

19/36 (52.8%), 169 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 3 sacks, AY/A 4.0, 63.3 rate

Chiefs 27, Buccaneers 24 — 11/29/20

27/41 (52.8%), 345 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT, 1 sack, AY/A 7.68, 96.1 rate

Overall Brady has 9 touchdown passes to 4 interceptions in five games against Spagnuolo defenses. And the 2-3 record isn’t what you expect for Brady, who has an overall 263-80 record lifetime. Of course, this is a team sport and there are many more factors that go into these statistics. We do know what Spagnuolo would like to do and that’s get to Brady as often as possible. He loves sending blitzes and the Chiefs have been one of the more blitz-happy teams in the league.

Sending extra men has been hit and miss as far as getting to the quarterback for the Chiefs defense, but the threat is always there and pushes quarterbacks to make mistakes even if the blitz gets picked up. At this point in his career, Brady is a master at reading defenses and the biggest chess match of the game could be Spagnuolo vs. Brady, as Spags tries to hide his defensive plans while Brady tries to read them.

That’s one way to start a Super Bowl victory parade.

The city of Kansas City (Missouri) is hosting a parade to celebrate the Chiefs Super Bowl 54 victory, and it has gotten off to an insane start. Fans lined the parade route and before it could get going, a police chase happened right amidst the fans. Multiple police cars were pursuing another car and had to ram the car to stop it.

The car went through the barricades and police pursued it and eventually stopped it. Police have a person in custody, per KRON 4. We’ve got a pair of videos that show the chase. The first video is the full length of it as reported on the local NBC station. The second video was captured from a hotel room overlooking the parade route.

A lot of people watched Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs beat the 49ers in Super Bowl 54.

The NFL closed out another big season of television ratings, and the 2020 Super Bowl was another big one. FOX Sports tweeted that 102 million people tuned in to the game on FOX, FOX Deportes, and various FOX, NFL, and Verizon digital properties. They are claiming this as the tenth-most watched Super Bowl in NFL history.

NFL legend Gil Brandt tweeted out some different numbers. He reported that 99.9 million viewers watched the game on the main FOX feed of the game, and that number was up one percent vs. CBS last year.

Last year’s game had a reported 98.19 million television viewers watching what was the lowest viewed game in a decade. The 102 million figure would be the third lowest in that time span. From 2010 to 2017, the Super Bowl exceeded 106 million viewers each year, and had over 111 million six of those years.

The NFL is currently negotiating with the NFLPA for a new collective bargaining agreement. The CBA expires next year and television ratings will be something to keep an eye on. There’s all sorts of money to be made and both sides will shout out pertinent ratings from the mountain top.

Apologies if you bet the over on Patrick Mahomes rushing yards in Super Bowl 54.

The Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl 54 with a fourth quarter comeback and quarterback Patrick Mahomes took home the Most Valuable Player award thanks to his closing work.

Don’t tell that to anybody who bet on Mahomes to exceed his rushing total prop bet.

DraftKings Sportsbook offered a Mahomes rushing total prop bet at 30.5 rushing yards. Late in the fourth quarter, the Chiefs were up 31-20 and Mahomes had easily exceeded the number with 44 yards. The Chiefs were set to win the Super Bowl and that meant we were going to get some kneel downs to close things out.

Normally, kneel-downs involve the quarterback either immediately kneeling with the ball or taking a single step back and then kneeling. Maybe you lose a couple yards per knee. With 44 rushing yards in hand, three kneel-downs should have cost him no more than six or seven yards. There was breathing room on the prop bet.

Instead, the scream you heard across the country was not 49ers fans distraught over the blown lead, but Mahomes over rushing yardage bettors. On the first and last kneel-downs, Mahomes took several steps back to bleed clock before kneeling. The three knees added up to 15 lost rushing yards.

The prop bet was installed at 30.5 rushing yards and Mahomes finished the game with 29 yards. I think this GIF sums it up best if you bet the over.

The Kansas City Chiefs are your 2020 Super Bowl champions after beating the San Francisco 49ers 31-20. We’ve got the biggest moments on the field.

Super Bowl 54 ended up being a classic, with the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Miami for KC’s first Super Bowl victory in five decades. Both teams made some terrific plays throughout the game, but only one could win. We’ll highlight 12 of the best here that led to such an entertaining conclusion to the 2019 season.

1. Deebo Samuel’s scramble early

One of the surprises of the game was Samuel getting so many rushing opportunities. His over/under for total rushing yards was just 13.5, but he went well over that early in the first quarter on this one. He ended up with three carries for 53 yards total.

The Chiefs did end up scoring a TD here, but on 3rd and 11 in the red zone Mahomes actually did pick up the first down... but the big lick from Jimmie Ward forced the Chiefs QB to fumble with the ball going out of bounds behind the marker.

We keep tabs on Tevin Coleman’s performance and prop bet progress during Super Bowl 54.

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to utilize Raheem Mostert as their feature running back against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 54. He surprised everyone when he rushed for 220 yards and four scores in the NFC title game, but Tevin Coleman being forced to leave the game because of a dislocated shoulder had a lot to do with that. Now Coleman is back active and is expected to be a contributor to the 49ers’ offense.

Coleman only tallied 21 yards on six carries in his last appearance, but was San Francisco’s top option in the Division Round — rushing for 105 yards and two scores on 22 carries to help the 49ers top the Minnesota Vikings. Now that he’s back, will he be afforded every opportunity Mostert is?

Coleman’s playoff numbers have been affected significantly by his injury in the Divisional Round, but he is averaging 4.5 yards per carry this postseason. We’ll be tracking his performance and prop bet progress during Super Bowl 54 here.

Super Bowl 54 fourth quarter recap

Coleman’s downward spiral continued in the final frame, as he did not receive a single carry in the fourth quarter. He finished the game with five carries for 28 yards and no scores. He didn’t contribute at all in the passing game and fell short on all of his Super Bowl prop bets.

Super Bowl 54 third quarter recap

Coleman has essentially been phased out of the offense and only recorded one rush for two yards in the third quarter. He could become a factor again in the fourth, as San Francisco leads 20-10 and will likely look to run out the clock. But the 49ers should make use of him, Mostert, and even Breida moving forward.

Super Bowl 54 second quarter recap

Coleman kicked off the second quarter with a 17-yard run. He appears to be San Francisco’s feature back of choice but doesn’t seem to have too much upside right now. Jimmy Garoppolo has thrown the ball 10 times — more than he did in the entire AFC title game. Mostert has eclipsed him in carries (5) and rushing yards (26). Coleman has 24 rushing yards at the break.

Super Bowl 54 first quarter recap

Coleman kicked off the Super Bowl looking like San Francisco’s first option at running back. He tallied three carries for seven yards on the 49ers’ first drive. However, he trails his teammate Deebo Samuel (39) and the Chiefs’ Damien Williams (32) in rushing yards. The 49ers look more poised to pass than usual.
