We go over some of the best bets to consider ahead of Tuesday’s matchup between the Nuggets and Jazz.

The Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets are set to face off in a Game 7 matchup on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET. The winning team will punch a ticket to the second round, and both sides will be depending on their star guards to perform in a must-win situation. DraftKings Sportsbook has of bets worth considering centered on Jamal Murray and Donovan Mitchell, and I’ll go over some of the best player props and game lines below.

Total points bets

Mitchell: Over 32.5 (-155)
Murray: Over 30.5 (-141)

I like the odds of Mitchell and Murray surpassing these over/unders. While Mitchell is averaging more points per game in the series, I don’t like his odds as much as Murray’s. The Jazz have reliable scorers in Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson who can help carry the scoring load. The Jazz appeared to have Murray figured out, but he’s eclipsed 40 points in three straight games after scoring less than 20 points in two straight outings. I expect Murray and Nikola Jokic to account for close to half of Denver’s scoring. Both players have a decent shot at tallying more than 30 points apiece.

If you think Murray and Mitchell can continue to put up ridiculous numbers, there are riskier total points bets available. Mitchell’s odds of totaling at least 39.5 points are +260 while Murray’s are +295. I still like Murray’s chances more, but would prefer not to reach for such a high total.

3-pointers made

Mitchell: Over 3.5 (-110)
Murray: Over 3.5 (-106)

Murray and Mitchell are both averaging more than five shots from beyond the arc per game in this series, and there’s no reason to believe either one of them will slow down in Game 7. Both guards have made at least four threes in three straight games.

Alternate total points bets

I’d stay away from point spread bets here, as there’s no telling how this game could go. However, the some alternate over/under points bets are appealing. Utah and Denver have combined for at least 220 points five times in the first round, and the odds of that happening again are +107. Betting on overs between 220 and 225 (+155) are ideal.

We go over the best lineup strategy, including Captain’s Picks and value options for Tuesday’s DraftKings Showdown contest between Denver and Utah.

The Denver Nuggets just love giving us Game 7s. Denver’s season will be decided in another rubber match for the ages. Jamal Murray and Donovan Mitchell have emerged as playoff heroes and only one can advance. Who gets the last laugh? Find out Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at some DraftKings Showdown picks to help you build your lineup.

Set your DraftKings lineup here.

Captain’s Pick

Nikola Jokic ($15,000)

I think a lot of lineups will obviously bank on another huge performance from Mitchell and/or Murray. So I’m fine pivoting to Jokic at a cheaper price tag in the Captain. He’s posted at least 47 DKFP in three straight games and really hasn’t been spectacular in any of those contests. We need vintage triple-double Joker in this game and I think with the season on the line, we’re more likely to see it. It also gets us a bit of leverage off of Murray and D-Mitch and it’s not like we can’t FLEX them.

Fade of the Game

Jordan Clarkson ($6,600)

This is the type of game where Clarkson either goes off or he busts. His ceiling hasn’t really been that high despite the price tag being pretty high. Clarkson hasn’t had more than 30 DKFP in four straight games and has only eclipsed that number once. I can’t imagine Game 7 is when Quin Snyder tells Clarkson to chuck all he wants. This is Mitchell’s game.

Value Picks

Jerami Grant ($5,600) — Grant has shot the ball well in this series and the return of Gary Harris didn’t really take away from his playing time in Game 6. Grant, like O’Neale, is really the cheapest player on the Nuggets were gonna find who will play north of 30 minutes. Grant should continue to get open looks from 3 with the Jazz defense worrying about Murray-Jokic.

Royce O’Neale ($5,200) — I’m going to live and die by O’Neale in this Game 7. It’s still really hard to argue against playing him at this price tag. He played 38 minutes in Game 6 and if Game 7 is anything like that, we should see him get close to 40 minutes again. He busted in Game 6, whatever, you aren’t going to find someone this cheap who is going to see the court as much as O’Neale.

We go over the best lineup strategy, including Captain’s Picks and value options for Sunday’s DraftKings Showdown contest between Denver and Utah.

The Denver Nuggets looked to be cooked in their first round series against the Utah Jazz after going down 3-1. A win in Game 5 to extend the series gave Denver a bit of life. More intensity on defense was key for the Nuggets in their win to make the series 3-2. Donovan Mitchell may have something to say about the Nuggets making it 3-3. He’s been on fire and looking like a superstar this postseason. Let’s take a look at some DraftKings Showdown picks to help you build your lineup for the contest, which locks at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Set your DraftKings lineup here.

Captain’s Pick

Rudy Gobert ($13,500)

Gobert seems like a good value pivot off of D-Mitch at Captain. Most of the ownership here will go to Mitchell and Nikola Jokic, who are the most expensive options. Gobert is a decent play given the flashes of dominance in the post of Joker. Gobert gives us a reasonable floor at this price, which gives us some roster flexibility. It may be tougher to fit in Mitchell and Jokic if we Captain one of them. I’m fine banking on Gobert going for a double-double.

Fade of the Game

Michael Porter Jr. ($7,400)

It’s just hard to trust Porter at the price we’re getting. He’s still priced up as if he were in the seeding round. I’d maybe consider him as a good GPP play if he gets down to the $6K range, given we know the type of ceiling game he can produce. The issue is he isn’t going to get many minutes because he’s a defensive liability. So if the Nuggets keep this one close, we should see too much of MPJ.

Value Picks

Royce O’Neale ($5,200) — This seems like a great price for O’Neale, who continues to see huge minutes as a glue guy in the starting lineup. He’s played at least 37 minutes in back-to-back games. If this one is close — which I’m expecting — then O’Neale should see around 30-35 minutes. He isn’t going to fill it up but offers enough peripheral stats to cover this salary pretty easily.

PJ Dozier ($2,200) — It’s hard to find good value in playoff Showdowns. Dozier is a rare case of a bench player seeing enough minutes to return value at a low price. We don’t normally see guys like Dozier priced this low. I feel like $3K is a better pricing for him. Dozier has played at least 20 minutes in two straight and has returned big value compared to this price.

Postseason will resume starting at 3:30 PM ET on Saturday with Bucks-Magic Game 5.

After three days of protests, the NBA announced the schedule for the return of the postseason on Saturday. The protests began on Wednesday when the Milwaukee Bucks refused to take the court for their Game 5 vs. the Orlando Magic. Following the Bucks’ decision, the rest of the teams playing also decided to protest.

The NBA and Players Association along with the Board of Governors met on Thursday to discuss how to resolve the issues. The players decided it would be best to resume the postseason as long as the NBA and owners made more of an effort to further the fight against racism and social injustice. So the 2020 NBA Playoffs are back and here’s the schedule for this weekend.

Here’s the full schedule from The Athletic’s Shams Charania:

So this is pretty much the same schedule as before except some times have moved around. The Bucks and Magic will play Game 5 at 3:30 p.m. ET followed by Rockets-Thunder and Lakers-Blazers Game 5s.
Will Nikola Jokic ever miss again? The big man went perfect from the field in the first quarter of Game 5 on Tuesday.

Nikola Jokic might never miss again. The Denver Nuggets center started 8-for-8 from the field in the first quarter of his team’s playoff game against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday and tallied 21 points. The Joker made all five of his three-point attempts while also notching 2 assists and 2 rebounds. At this point, I’m prepared to put him in the GOAT conversation.

Jokic played all 12 minutes in the first quarter and tallied 28.5 DKFP. He leads all players in fantasy points and is on track to score at least 28 points for the fourth time in his last five games.

Jamal Murray is off to a slow start following his 50-point game in Game 4 and has 3 points on 1-of-3 shooting. It’s surprising to see him with so few shots early on, but he’s done most of his work later in games during this series.

Royce O’Neale and Joe Ingles have been surprisingly effective for Utah. Both players are tied with a team-high 8 points.

Can Luka Doncic follow up his last monster performance with another in Game 5?

It could be hard to find variance in this slate, as there will only be two games. The Utah Jazz will look to eliminate the Denver Nuggets from the playoffs in the first game of the day. Then the Los Angeles Clippers look to redeem themselves after losing to Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks at the buzzer on Monday. I’ll go over the full slate here.

Jazz vs. Nuggets, 6:30 p.m. ET

Spread: UTA (-2.5)
Over/Under: 219.5
Here’s our Showdown breakdown of this game.

The last matchup between these two teams saw Donovan Mitchell ($9,700) and Jamal Murray ($8,000) score at least 50 points. Expect both guards to carry heavy workloads in this potential closeout game. Mitchell might be a little overpriced. He’s the third most expensive player in the slate, but the Jazz have other guards like Mike Conley ($6,700) and Jordan Clarkson ($5,200) to help him out. I think Murray is the better play here. There is plenty of value in the late game.

Michael Porter Jr.’s ($5,700) price has dropped significantly, but he won’t be worth playing unless he shoots lights out as soon as he gets in the game. I’d fade him because of how much is at risk in this game. The Nuggets need defense more than ever. Paul Millsap ($5,000) could provide some value at power forward. Rudy Gobert is the only quality big the Jazz have, and Millsap tallied 35.3 DKFP in 35 minutes his last time out.

Mavericks vs. Clippers, 9:00 p.m. ET

Spread: LAC (-8)
Over/Under: 236
Here’s our Showdown breakdown of this game.

This is the game where value comes into play. Kristaps Porzingis has been ruled out because of knee pain for a second straight game, and Doncic ($11,000) posted the best fantasy line we’ve seen at this point in the postseason with 43 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 assists his last time out. Trey Burke ($4,500) might be the best play under $5,000 with Porzingis out. He scored a playoff-high 25 points in Game 4 and finished with 37.8 DKFP in 37 minutes. Dorian Finney-Smith ($4,800) is dealing with multiple injuries and is listed as questionable. If he’s ruled out, Maxi Kleber ($4,200). and Boban Marjanovic ($3,800) should get an increase in minutes.

Paul George ($8,300) has shot just over 21 percent from the field from Game 2 through Game 4 and will likely be low owned. He could be the kind of variance play that pays off in GPPs in a major way, but I wouldn’t risk taking a chance on him for that price in such a small slate. Lou Williams ($6,400) is more enticing coming off the bench and seems likely to be Kawhi Leonard’s ($10,000) co-star. He’ll cost more than $6,000 for the first time since February and is well worth that price. Landry Shamet ($3,600) has been inserted into the starting lineup and missed a few open looks from deep his last time out. If he knocks those down in Game 5, he could easily return at least 5x value for a third straight game.

Lock of the Night: Luka Doncic ($11,000)

Doncic logged 46 minutes in his last game and will likely eclipse 40 minutes again this time around. He’ll see more of the ball than any other player in the slate and the Clippers haven’t found a way to slow him down. Murray ($8,000) gets an honorable mention, as he’ll likely have to take at least 30 shots for the desperate Nuggets. I think fitting both these players in your lineup will be essential to success.

Rather than betting on picking the most productive player, bank on a reliable guy like Conley with a high floor. He’ll allow you to fit plenty of high upside plays in the flex.

Fade of the game

Michael Porter Jr., SF/PF, Nuggets ($11,400/$7,600)

MPJ is overpriced and was benched for Game 4. It’s possible that he’ll return to the starting lineup, but his defense has continued to make him a liability. The highest scoring team in the playoffs could make it hard for Mike Malone to keep the rookie on the court.

FLEX Option

Paul Millsap, PF, ($6,000)

Milsap had his best game his last time out and notched 35.25 DKFP in 35 minutes. He has to make the most of his size if Royce O’Neale continues to guard Jamal Murray. He’ll likely play more minutes than usual if MPJ remains on the hot seat.

The Raptors have a ton of potential ahead of Sunday’s potential closeout game against the Nets. We’ll go over the full slate here.

Sunday’s NBA action could see two sweeps be completed, as the Boston Celtics are up 3-0 against the Philadelphia 76ers while the Brooklyn Nets will face elimination against the Toronto Raptors. Will the desperation of teams against the wall make for some interesting fantasy lines? Let’s go over the four-game main slate.

Celtics vs. 76ers, 1:00 p.m. ET

Spread: BOS (-7.5)
Over/Under: 215.5
Here’s our Showdown breakdown of this game.

Expect the 76ers to play their key players a ton in this one. It’s clear that Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris will be heavily featured, but so will Josh Richardson. One of the key value plays worth keeping an eye on is Shake Milton ($4,400). The point guard has struggled shooting the ball lately but played 38 minutes in Game 3. I think he could return big-time value if his shot falls early.

Jayson Tatum’s streak of 50-point fantasy performances was snapped in Game 3. He likely bounces back in Game 4, but Kemba Walker ($6,900) has a good chance to return more value with Gordon Hayward out.

Recap: I hit the nail on the head with Walker, as he scored a game-high 32 points and tallied 50 DKFP to return more than 7x value. Tatum ($9,000) returned just under 7x value with a game-high 60.75 DKFP with 28 points and 15 rebounds.

Embiid led the 76ers with 30 points and 10 rebounds to finish with 52.5 DKFP while Milton and Richardson were right at 5x value.

Clippers vs. Mavericks, 3:30 p.m. ET

Spread: LAC (-7)
Over/Under: 231
Here’s our Showdown breakdown of this game.

Luka Doncic is the most expensive player on the slate but will be a game-time decision because of the ankle injury he suffered his last time out. If he’s ruled out before the tip, players like Delon Wright, J.J. Barea, and Seth Curry could receive a bump. However, I think Tim Hardaway Jr. ($5,700) is a better pivot.

Kawhi Leonard ($9,800) never disappoints and has yet to fall below 50 DKFP in the playoffs. He’s returned 6x value twice in three games, which is great given his price. Stacking him with Marcus Morris, who has eclipsed 30 DKFP in three straight games could be ideal, as Paul George’s slump has made him a less viable option lately.

Recap: Leonard go some help from overtime after a slow start but tallied a team-high 55.75 DKFP on 32 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Doncic stole the show with 43 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 assists and finished with a ridiculous 92.75 DKFP while missing Kristaps Porzingis (knee). Morris and Shamet had modest performances as George’s slump continued, but Lou Williams scored 36 points off the bench for 50.5 DKFP.

Raptors vs. Nets, 6:30 p.m. ET

Spread: TOR (-13)
Over/Under: 220
Here’s our Showdown breakdown of this game.

Toronto is expected to win big and close out this series, but Brooklyn has kept it close through three quarters so far. Don’t expect the Raptors to let off the gas. Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet have combined for at least 80 DKFP in every game this series and have cracked 90 twice. Getting both in a closeout game should return 5x value at the very least. Getting extra rest could be valuable in this playoff format, as all the games have been close together.

The Nets, aside from Tyler Johnson, were mostly a letdown after losing Joe Harris ahead of Game 3. Caris LeVert could still return significant value, but the role players around him have seen their prices go up. Brooklyn could put up a decent fight, but I’m not sold on Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Jarrett Allen being the key to winning GPPs.

Recap: Lowry only recorded 13 DKFP before suffering an injury in the first quarter and Fred VanVleet only contributed 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists in his team’s blowout win. Serge Ibaka unexpectedly led the Raptors with 55.75 DKFP on 27 points and 15 rebounds. Toronto got 100 points off its bench.

Caris LeVert tallied a game-high 35 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists to tally 57 DKFP.

Nuggets vs. Jazz, 9:00 p.m. ET

Spread: UTA (-3)
Over/Under: 216
Here’s our Showdown breakdown of this game.

There’s no way the Nuggets could be as terrible as they were in Game 3, right? Jamal Murray hasn’t looked the same since Royce O’Neale started defending him, so I think Nikola Jokic is more likely to have a bounce-back game. Michael Porter Jr. should be low owned, but he’s been a defensive liability against a Jazz team that’s only gotten better with Mike Conley’s return. Gary Harris ($3,600) has been upgraded to doubtful, and could be a top-notch value play.

Donovan Mitchell is overpriced at $9,500 and doesn’t seem to be as appealing as Conley. Joe Ingles’ reduction in ball-handling makes him a fade for me as well. O’Neale should play more than 30 minutes if Game 4 is close and is worth a look at $4,000 despite an underwhelming Game 3 performance. He’s thrived and put up more than 30 DKFP with the Jazz completely healthy.

Lock of the Day: Kawhi Leonard ($9,800)

Leonard came close to a triple-double Friday and posted his best line of the playoffs. He’s had one of the sturdies floor’s among stars and has been leaned on by the Clippers while George has slipped.

Sleeper: Landry Shamet ($3,400)

Shamet unexpectedly played 27 minutes in Friday and produced 26.3 DKFP. His scoring punch made up for George’s poor scoring, and he could get more time alongside Leonard if that trend continues.
