The UFC closes out its recent run of Las Vegas Apex events this Saturday, June 27th with UFC on ESPN 12. Following this event, the organization and competing fighters will travel to Fight Island at Abu Dhabi for four events over 16 days. The top of this final card features a lightweight contenders bout between third ranked Dustin Poirier and fifth ranked Dan Hooker.
Poirier opened as a -200 favorite in this fight as he looks to rebound from a third round submission defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov last September at UFC 242. He lost a title unification bout after beating Max Holloway for the interim lightweight championship the prior April at UFC 236. He is 25-6-1 in his career, with 12 victories by KO or TKO and seven by submission.
Hooker enters the fight 20-8 and opened as a +162 underdog. He’s on a bit of a roll of late, having won seven of his last eight fights. He beat Paul Felder via controversial split decision in February at Fight Night 168. He has ten victories by KO or TKO and seven by submission.
Weigh-in update: Poirier weighed in at 156 pounds and Hooker weighed in at 155.5 pounds.
