The UFC closes out its recent run of Las Vegas Apex events this Saturday, June 27th with UFC on ESPN 12. Following this event, the organization and competing fighters will travel to Fight Island at Abu Dhabi for four events over 16 days. The co-main event of the card features a welterweight bout between Mike Perry and Mickey Gall.
Perry enters the fight as a sizable favorite, but in the midst of a rough stretch of his career. He is 13-6, but after a 9-0 start, he’s gone 4-6, including losing five of his last seven fights. His most recent action came in December at UFC 245, where he lost to Geoff Neal via first round TKO. Prior to that he lost a split decision to Vicente Luque at UFC Fight Night 156.
Gall is 6-2 and coming off a unanimous decision victory over Salim Touhari last August at UFC on ESPN 5. He had subsequent fights scheduled in December and February, but pulled out of both of them. The first was due to a detached retina, the latter was not entirely clear.
Weigh-in update: Mickey Gall weighed in at 170 pounds, while Mike Perry weighed in at 171 pounds.
