An MMA veteran at lightweight faces a former European champion making his UFC debut as Francisco Trinaldo takes on Jai Herbert at UFC Fight Night on ESPN from Fight Island on Abu Dhabi this evening. The fight will take place despite Trinaldo missing weight by four pounds, his first time ever coming up short on the scales in 22 UFC appearances. The catchweight will be 160 pounds, and Herbert will collect 30% of Trinaldo’s fight purse.

Trinaldo has been fighting in the UFC since 2012 and in various martial arts promotions for over two decades. The 42-year-old Brazilian is 25-7 as a cagefighter, 15-6 in the UFC, and is coming off two straight wins. He’s never fought for a title and is playing gatekeeper here to a younger talent, but his stats aren’t overwhelming either: 3.13 significant strikes per minute, and 1.02 takedowns per full-length bout. He has 13 stoppages amongst his 25 career wins.

Herbert is 10-1 with nine career stoppages and is the former Cage Warriors lightweight champion. The former scaffolder has won six in a row, and was scheduled to make his UFC debut in London before the Covid-19 pandemic canceled the card. The 32-year-old from Wolverhampton likes to use his fists, with eight of his nine stoppages coming via KO or TKO.

DraftKings DFS Salaries

Here are the DraftKings DFS salaries for Francisco Trinaldo vs. Jai Herbert tonight:

Francisco Trinaldo: $8,500
Jai Herbert: $7,700

Trinaldo tends to grinds fights to a halt, and his 54.5 DFS points scored in his last two fights (both victories) is an indication of how he wins. That’s not terrific for people looking to score fantasy points along the way, but Herbert has won via stoppage in his last four fights and is still undefeated. And he’s not coming from some lousy promotion, as Cage Fighters might be the second-best tune-up group out there.

Having Herbert on some rosters, especially with the weight miss from Trinaldo, is a great to not only score but free up some salary cap room for some other expensive fighters on the card.
