UFC is in Abu Dhabi for the next two weeks hosting four events at Fight Island. The series get started on Saturday, July 11th with the UFC 251 PPV. The 13-fight card features championships on the line, and a huge women’s contenders bout. The early prelims get started at 6 p.m. on UFC Fight Pass, and the main card gets going at 10 p.m. on ESPN+.
Two bantamweights fight for the vacant title when Petr Yan takes on Jose Aldo. The Russian Yan is 14-1, 6-0 in the UFC, and has seven stoppages in his career. His KO kick of Urijah Faber in November got him the #3 spot in the Bantamweight division, and when Henry Cejudo abandoned the title he got a shot to fight for it.
Aldo has been the champion before, becoming the inaugural UFC featherweight champion in 2010. He defended the belt seven times before being dropped by Conor McGregor in 2015. Since that KO he’s 3-4 in the UFC, though one of the best careers in MMA history with a 28-6 record.
