A middleweight battle of two fighters looking to get ranked at 170 lbs. will be at UFC Fight Night this evening as Kevin Holland faces Trevin Giles live from the UFC Apex arena in Las Vegas.
Holland is 17-5 with a 4-2 mark in the UFC. His TKO at 39 seconds of the first round of his last fight against Anthony Hernandez was an elbow & knee combination that saw 14 total strikes be enough to end it. He attempted to come back just two weeks later against Daniel Rodriguez, but an undisclosed injury forced him to hold off until this evening. At 6’3 he’ll have a reach advantage on his opponent, and he averages 4.29 strikes per minute in the UFC.
Giles is 12-2 with 10 career stoppages, 3-2 in the UFC. “The Problem” was undefeated before back-to-back submissions from Zak Cummings and Gerald Meerschaert in 2019. Prior to that he took a year off to go to the police academy in his hometown, and is a cop for the Houston Police Department when he’s not in the octagon. He averages 3.61 strikes per minute and 1.47 takedowns.
