UFC is back for its latest PPV, this time back in the United States. A month removed from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, UFC 252 will take place on August 15th at the company’s APEX facility in Las Vegas. The card features a massive heavyweight title main event, and opens at 7 p.m. with the early preliminary card. The PPV will air on ESPN+.
The main event features heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic defending his title against No. 1 contender Daniel Cormier in what is expected to close out the trilogy of fights between these two big names. The fight opened with both fighters at -110, but as of Friday, Cormier is favored at -115.
The two first fought in July 2018 at UFC 226. Cormier won on a first-round knockout to claim the heavyweight title. They had a rematch in August 2019 at UFC 241 and Miocic one via fourth-round TKO to claim the heavyweight title. Neither has fought since then.
Miocic is 19-3 with 15 wins coming by way of KO or TKO. Cormier is 22-2 with 10 wins coming by KO or TKO and 5 wins coming by submission. Crazy things could happen, but odds are good we’ll get a definitive conclusion to this trilogy on Saturday.
