UFC is back for its latest PPV, this time back in the United States. A month removed from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, UFC 252 will take place on August 15th at the company’s APEX facility in Las Vegas. The card features a massive heavyweight title main event, and opens at 7 p.m. with the early preliminary card. The PPV will air on ESPN+.
The first fight of the main card is a featherweight bout between Herbert Burns and Daniel Pineda. Burns is a rising star in UFC and opened at -286 to Pineda’s +221. The line has not seen much movement over the past week.
Burns is fighting in his third UFC event and second straight PPV. He defeated Evan Dunham at UFC 250 via rear-naked choke submission and prior to that knocked out Nate Landwehr at UFC Fight Night 166. Both stoppages came in the first round. Burns fought for several organizations, much of his time with One Championship, and has a career record of 11-2 with eight wins coming by submission.
Pineda is 26-13 with 8 KO or TKO wins and 18 submissions in his lengthy career. He’s making his first UFC appearance since 2014, having been dismissed from the roster after a 3-4 stretch with the organization. He was dealing with a drug suspension for the first part oft he year, but UFC signed him back after that ended.
