UFC is back for its latest PPV, with UFC 252 set to get going Saturday, August 15th at 7 p.m. The company is back from its cards at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, and this marks the first PPV since returning. The card features a heavyweight title main event, and opens at 7 p.m. with the early preliminary card. The PPV will air on ESPN+.
The penultimate fight of the preliminary card is a women’s strawweight bout. 15th ranked Felice Herrig faces off against Virna Jandiroba. Like a good chunk of this card, this is serving as a bit of a gate-leeper fight. Fight week opened with Jandiroba installed as a sizable -315 favorite and the line has not moved heading into fight day.
Herrig is 14-8 for her career, with five wins by stoppage. She has not fought since October 2018 and has lost her last two fights. They include a unanimous decision loss to Michelle Waterson at UFC 229 and a split decision loss to Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 223. Herrig was set to fight in June 2019, but tore her ACL.
Jandiroba is 15-1 with 12 wins coming by way of submission. She is 1-1 in her brief UFC career, winning by rear-naked choke over Mallory Martin at UFC on ESPN 7 last December, and losing by unanimous decision to Carla Esparza at UFC Fight Night 150 the prior April. This marks her first UFC PPV
